Happy to share that Object Vacation is coming to the 2026 Chicago Art Book Fair this November for the launch of its first print edition @chicagoculturalcenter.

There is a Florida, Ohio. A Cairo, Illinois. A Beverly Hills, Michigan. Across the country, Edens, Venices, Floridas, and Hollywoods sit hundreds or thousands of miles from the landscapes their names seem to remember. A Mediterranean villa under a Midwestern sky. An artificial lake beside a subdivision. A swimming pool covered through winter. Geography is another material available for rearrangement.

Seen from above, a swimming pool is an improbable object: a chemically blue rectangle cut into dirt. It resembles water while requiring an enormous amount of machinery to keep behaving like water. Pumps, filters, chlorine, vinyl, concrete. Nature is made strangely legible through plastic.

JUNE 5TH over at @ignition_projects ! “Syllabus of Effects” shares its name with the title of six themed artists books I made in 2024 based on my love of syllabus creation and a desire to share and galvanize unruly pedagogy. For this exhibition, the themes (ambiguity and borderlines, mirrors, gestures & authorship, noisiness, deskilling & reskilling, repetition) stretch off of the page and into the gallery space into six discreet novel displays, miniature exhibitions within the exhibition, featuring artworks, objects, archival ephemera, texts, and footnotes that further elucidate the strings of equivalences and rogue knowledge production the syllabi encouraged. Some of the bigger ideas considered here: mutual kinship and finding symmetry, categorical slipperiness, life during the wartime, art as an occasion for experience, getting lost in the meshes, collaborating without direct collaboration.

With: Àle Campos, Breanne Trammell, Cat Bowyer, Danny Floyd, Elena Ailes, Emma Bergman, Jenn Smith, Jess Bass, Jesse Malmed, Jessica Zawadowicz, Jonas Müller- Ahlheim, Kat Bawden, Laurel Hauge, Lauren Sudbrink, lee rae walsh, Lindsey Whittle, Livy Snyder, M. Carson Day, Madeleine Aguilar, Madison Mae Parker, Mat Mancini, Max Guy, olivier, Sloan Klusendorf, Tamara Becerra Valdez, Zoey Gringlas

A Hair Never Dissolves Scent Event:A Stranger in the Woods

An evening of olfactory encounters.
Saturday, May 2, 5-8 pm at The Plan 610 N. Albany

Thirteen fragrances composed in collaboration with Tedd Neenan and the SAIC olfactory class are paired with three photo prints. We will spend time with each olfactory interpretation of traces left on surfaces: names carved in living beech trees, insect excavations in photographic prints, and the essence of moss, lichen, and decaying wood in a nearby forest. Forest- and human-inspired olfactory compositions trigger emotive response, distance and intimacy mingle in the limbic centers of the brain, traces left, traces received, a stranger in the woods: Interpolated
