POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We first met @slava_tutukin at @russian_masters_ballet in Perth this past January. At a time when we were wrestling with some rather big decisions for Primrose, he so genuinely and passionately shared his wisdom and advice with us. Looking back now, it is quite remarkable to see what grew from the seed of that first conversation 🌱

Since then, he has taken Primrose under his wing in the most lovely way. And watching him teach and prepare her for John Cranko School has been pure joy.

Slava has a rare gift for explaining his ideas and corrections in a way that just resonates, and reaches right to her core. There is nothing quite so beautiful for a mama as witnessing that sudden dawning of understanding in your own child — when you can almost see the moment something falls into place ✨

And then there is @winn.dance We had heard Slava speak about his vision for this new company for many months. So to finally see it come to life in the most gorgeous theatre you’ve ever seen, with world class ballerinas, and standing ovations, was something quite special. Knowing the thought and heart he had put into creating new possibilities for these incredible dancers made witnessing it all the more meaningful.

We wish you a very Happy birthday, Slava 🎂

Thank you for all you give so generously, for the guidance and belief you have given Primrose, and for everything you are bringing into the ballet world. We are so proud of all you have accomplished in such a short time, and will be applauding you always. 🤍

A very lovely result arrived this week, and we have been quietly smiling ever since 🌸

Primrose has been awarded a Distinction in her Ballet Conservatoire @balletconservatoire Excellence examination — the final and highest level of the Vaganova-based syllabus created by Christine Walsh.

At thirteen, she was given special permission to take the examination several years earlier than usual, as our move to Germany meant this would be her last chance to complete it 🩰

I am so proud of her, and so grateful to @dance_at_npda @elite_classical_coaching and her classical teachers who have guided and encouraged her along the way — Miss Michelle @michelleanne8 Mr Broeckx @wim.broeckx Miss Karen Miss Miwako @miwakokubota_classicalcoaching and Miss Melissa @mel.tattam

And a very special thank you to Christine Walsh for creating such a beautiful syllabus, and to Joanne Grace-Morgan for examining Primrose.

There are so many years of little moments behind one result like this. Classes, corrections, repetition, tired feet, tears, small breakthroughs, and all the ordinary days that somehow become the important ones.

It feels like a very special way to close this chapter of her training in Australia — a little piece of her ballet story to keep close with her in Germany 🤍

🤍 From Clarissa…

It feels impossible to put into words the gratitude I feel for all the countless ways Michelle @michelleanne8 has shaped and changed the trajectory of my daughter’s life.

In 2022 Primrose was ready to quit ballet.

So was I.

It was her dad, that wouldn’t allow it.

Michael felt it was important for Prim and I to push through what had been a very bumpy ballet season and try a new environment before making our final decision. That’s how we fell onto the doorstep of @dance_at_npda @elite_classical_coaching

Primrose was 10 at the time and didn’t care much about where she went. She had just one non-negotiable — that she could train in the Vaganova method.

During my first meeting with Michelle, I asked her to tell me about the Russian syllabus she was using for her students. I remember watching her entire being light up ✨ eyes bright, smile wide, hands twirling passionately as she spoke about the exquisite beauty of Ms Christine Walsh’s @balletconservatoire program.

And the passion I witnessed in that very first meeting never wavered over these past four years. If anything, it only grew. From the very beginning, Michelle backed Primrose completely, encouraged her relentlessly, and gave a wholehearted “YES” to every possible opportunity and ballet adventure 🩰

So when Primrose received the extraordinary offer to train at @johncrankoschool I asked her first — are you ready to let her go?

Her response —

“I’ve always known in my heart that her time with me would be short and wonderful… and I don’t think I’ll ever be ready to let either of you go, but it’s my job and I must be able to let these beautiful girls fly 🕊️ to their next journey.”

That’s who Michelle is — she loves deeply, but never holds too tightly.

We love you Miss Michelle, and we will be forever grateful for the beautiful place you hold in Primrose’s story.

Happy birthday to you a thousand times over 🎂

🤍 Clarissa xx
