At the age of 17 (yes, 17!), renowned dancer Cara DeMeo opened her own studio to share her passion for the art of dance with aspiring dancers in her community. Nearly three decades later, and with two locations in Rotterdam and Amsterdam under Cara’s leadership, Dance Force has blossomed into a hub for young people to express themselves, develop confidence, and make new friends.

And Cara’s impact doesn’t stop there—she goes above and beyond to give back to her community, including as the founder of Entertaining for a Cure, a dance fundraising initiative that benefits cancer research and local nonprofits.

In recognition of this outstanding business, I presented Cara with the State Senate’s highest honor for our business community, the Empire Award. It was wonderful to visit Dance Force and see firsthand the way it’s shaping so many young people—these are the leadership moments, team building lessons, and self-love that kids will take with them throughout the rest of their lives, and I'm incredibly proud to recognize Cara's great work with this special honor.
