We were proud to host a community gathering this week in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, in partnership with @boylestreetcommunityservices.

The afternoon featured a formal program that included Elder teachings and performances by the @dancingcree. It was an opportunity for reflection, learning, and connection within the downtown community.

Indigenous vendors lined the lobby of EPCOR Tower, while traditional foods were prepared and shared for everyone to experience. Attendees also had opportunities to deepen their knowledge through interactive teaching tables and guest speakers.

We were honoured to collaborate on such a meaningful event and provide an opportunity for our community to come together, expand their understanding and reflect on the importance of reconciliation.

On 2/22/26: Thank you to all who attended the 2nd Annual Lunar New Year event that was hosted at the Royal Alberta Museum (RAM)

It was another successful event filled with crafts, activities and performances. There was the Indigenous dance by @dancingcree , Chinese dance, hip hop, Chinese musical instruments and of course lion dances.

This would not have been possible without @kat_the_butchers_wife for her long hours of planning and organizing with the support of the BIA, the City of Edmonton, CTC, volunteers and performers.

While RAM was busy with activities and entertainment, the lions of @hongde.canada , @gingwu780 , Hung Ga roamed Edmonton's Chinatown blessing all of the businesses.

Wishing you all good health, prosperity and happiness in the year of the Fire Horse! 🔥 🐎

At Chinatown’s Lunar New Year celebration at the Royal Alberta Museum, something truly special happened, Fancy Dancer Marcus Pahtayken danced to the rhythm of Sifu Mike’s Drum from Hong De, and a Hong De lion danced to the drum of Dancing Cree. In that powerful exchange, Indigenous and Chinese traditions didn’t just share a space, they shared respect, rhythm, and story. It was more than a performance; it was a living moment of collaboration, cultural honouring, and community unity that made this year’s celebration unforgettable.

Thank you to @kat_the_butchers_wife Auntie Anna for capturing this moment and thank you to Horse mask Bobby Hunter for making this moment come to life! 💕
