Nobody else does it like that. @ianmcintosh in Girdwood

If you were to observe Ian’s freeriding on a subatomic level, the wave-function wouldn’t collapse into standard particles—it would just emit pure, high-distortion blast beats. He treats a 50-degree AK spine wall like a particle accelerator, smashing through the slough with the kinetic energy of a Hadron Collider tuned to pure doom metal.

He doesn’t just ride the fall line; his skis are quantum-entangled with the mountain’s chaos, forcing the terrain into a heavy metal eigenstate with brutal, rhythmic precision.

A little snow post before we break for spring things ….

The pressure of filming is REAL. Here I am on this beautiful little line, skiing perfect snow, up high in the mountains where my soul is happiest , and I have this reactive, negative dialogue … what the heck! I strive for perfection and am my own biggest critic … I was backseat in the takeoff because I was scared and I knew it wouldn’t “look good” on camera from the moment I took off, but the photo at the end, and hindsight 20/20… there were a lot more beautiful moments than what I felt immediately after skiing this …
Here’s to being more gentle and more understanding of myself !

Thanks for the beautiful shot and finding us good snow @dandanstarr

Alaska provides a forced presence that isn’t often experienced. It’s inevitable and undeniable. When in these mountains; there is no past, no future, no taxes needing to be complete, puppy waiting at home or emails requiring a response.
Pure presence indeed, but a chaotic presence to navigate. What stands in front of me is immense and convoluted- a compilation of factors that can’t be controlled and emotions that can. A labyrinth of moment. Frenzied time.
Analysis and mitigation can alter direction but will never provide certainty or clarity… or the answer.

The simple answer of ‘yes’ or ‘no’.

The story behind the shot: Velvet Curtain 💅🏼

Revisiting a favorite line of mine captured flawlessly by @_katielo while shooting for Nexus in AK. Take a deeper dive through the link in my bio for the article. We spoke about process and how all the stars aligned.

Huge thank you to our guide @dandanstarr & to @chugachpowderguides for the collaboration with this one. This line landed the cover of @backcountrymag and Katie still owes me a champagne 🍾 date to celebrate 🥂!
