Some may describe Dina as “mature” but we prefer “wise”. Meet Kirsten Gometz, our Dina in the upcoming production of School House Rock - Live!
Dina is grounded and thoughtful, and when Tom is struggling before his first day teaching she reminds him that he’s got what it takes to be a great teacher. She helps him manage his nerves along with the rest of his alter egos. Come see Dina lead the vocals on the classic “Interjections” and many more!

Who’s your favorite Steel Magnolias character? We’ve all got our opinions, but a crowd favorite is often Ouiser [pronounced Weezer] Boudreaux. Known for her gruff demeanor and sarcastic attitude, she’s full of one-liners like, “don’t try to get on my good side, I no longer have one”. Despite her prickly exterior, she’s got a heart of gold.

So who is our Ouiser Boudreaux? Let’s meet Alexandra Clark!

Alex is a second-generation actor with a BA in Theatre from California State University, Northridge, Alexandra worked as a union actor in Los Angeles until 1994, when she moved to the Seattle area to pursue a more creative theatrical life. Her stage credits include Macbeth, Grease, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, A Christmas Story, and numerous musicals, Shakespeare, and youth productions. Alex is the Executive Producer for Sky and a M.A.C. - Monroe Arts Council Board Member. She is also Wellness Programs Manager for an upscale retirement community in Redmond.

Our fabulous understudy cast will kick off our run of Steel Magnolias with a special performance this Thursday (March 5th) at 7pm. And they’ll take the stage again at 2pm on the 14th.

Let’s meet Kirsten Gometz, understudy for Clairee Belcher. Clairee is a witty, wealthy widow of the former Mayor. She’s known for her sass, class, sarcastic humor, and is the “grande dame” of Chinquapin Parish, Louisiana. She owns the local radio station and knows just about everyone and everything in town.

Kirsten is delighted to play the part of Clairee and putting her series of witchy roles on pause – at least for now. 35 years ago, she was lucky enough to play Truvy in her college production of Steel Magnolias, so participating in this play feels like coming home. Kirsten wants to thank her supportive parents and her two boys, and for the phenomenal cast and crew that brought this show to life.

A week away from opening night of Steel Magnolias! You’d like to meet the rest of our cast, right? Let’s do it…

Karen Hendrickson is our Clairee Belcher; a witty, wealthy widow of the former Mayor. She’s known for her sass, class, sarcastic humor, and is the “grande dame” of Chinquapin Parish, Louisiana. She owns the local radio station and knows just about everyone and everything in town.

Karen would like you to know she’s enjoyed performing on the stage for more years than she feels comfortable sharing. (Never ask a lady their age!) over the years she has performed in musicals and plays but prefers plays. She was thrilled to be cast in this show. Special thanks to her Husband Phil and kids Finn and Aisling for learning how to survive while she has been at rehearsal. In Karen’s off stage time, she teaches Tahitian and Polynesian dance at TJ Dance in Duvall. Mahalo.

March 5th and 14th (2pm matinee) you’ll get a chance to see our Steel Magnolias understudy stars shine on stage. Let’s meet Grace Grubb, our understudy for Shelby.

We first meet Shelby Eatenton just before her wedding to Jackson Latcherie. Shelby is known as the prettiest girl in town and full of independent spirit. She’s eager to live life to the fullest, often trying to brighten the room despite her health challenges. We follow Shelby’s path managing Type 1 diabetes, a wedding, a new husband, an over-protective mother and a strong desire to be a mother herself.

Grace is overjoyed to be making her Sky Performing Arts debut alongside this talented group of women. Some of her favorite past roles include Gaelin/Ensemble in Legally Blonde the Musical and Bellamy in The Fantasticks. She would like to thank the cast and crew for all the work they put into making this production a success and her husband and family for always supporting her. She hopes you enjoy the show!
