The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” — Proverbs 16:9

Over the past 3 years, and especially this last semester, I’ve realized just how strange and beautiful this season of life is.
It’s a season filled with joy, freedom, friendship, growth, and memories you wish could last forever. But at the same time, it can also bring confusion, loneliness, uncertainty, and moments that force you to confront both the brokenness of the world and the brokenness within yourself.
There’s an idea that’s stayed with me since late February:
A storm breaks over a forest at night. Lightning flashes violently through the darkness. The fool becomes consumed by the storm itself: the fear, the chaos, the uncertainty. He stares upward, overwhelmed, and when the darkness returns, he is still lost. But the wise man understands the lightning is not the destination. He uses the brief illumination to see the road ahead. The storm hasn’t disappeared, but each flash of light reveals enough for him to keep moving forward.
The longer I’ve walked through this season, the more true that feels.
The more I’ve experienced both the highs and lows of this year, the more I’ve seen how faithfully the Lord works through all of it. Through every changing season, every unexpected hardship, every answered prayer, and every moment of uncertainty, God continues to reveal Himself in ways I never would have understood otherwise.
Sometimes the greatest growth comes from the moments that leave us most uncomfortable. Sometimes the deepest understanding of God’s goodness comes only after recognizing our own need for Him. And sometimes the very seasons we would have prayed ourselves out of become the exact places where the Lord teaches dependence, gratitude, perseverance, and love.
Seasons change. Circumstances shift. People come and go. But the Lord remains steadfast through it all. And maybe that’s the beauty of following Him; not that He removes every storm, but that even in the middle of them, He continues illuminating the path ahead, one step at a time, often revealing things we never saw coming or ever perceived as possible.
