Every October for the past eight years CultureCon has been a creative homecoming for me. Year after year gathering, connecting, building, and growing together. I'm in awe of what we've all been able in to do in this community and even more grateful for all of the people I get to do it with. Thank you for this runway @imaniimani it has been a fever dream to grow with you!

Diary Thoughts…

Dear Diary,
Coming back to @culturecon was a different experience for me I didn’t know what to expect and all honesty I didn’t have a plan, or what I wanted to do. The only thing I had in my mind was to be a light and not shrink and step into the rooms that I meant to, and to follow what felt right to me but what was given back to me, was so much greater than I thought!!

I didn’t realize this at the time, but I’m definitely understanding my light now and how needed it is in the space like this so many conversations so many people I met So many friends and people I reconnected with that poured into me as I poured in them the space is NEEDED, and so was this weekend.
Yes, at times it felt like it was drinking from a fire hose, but at other times it definitely felt like a realignment, a rejuvenation and anchoring in my purpose and my calling.

In all honesty, being in this space felt like HOME to me and I’m grateful to be here to share this space with so many incredible people that I’ve met in the past and met this weekend but also there was a lot of the crew that asked me the million dollar question WHY TF wasn’t I backstage haha

😂 ok ok HEARD and to that I will say next year is the 10th anniversary…. PUT ME IN COACH!! Ummm I have flowers to give @zoll_inreallife thank you so much for the ticket you are a blessing!! And to @imaniimani and the @cultureconcollective team I miss all I love yall and I’m proud of yall!! yall ATE DOWN!! to my peeps that are that was on a panel @khalidbriggs @kameronmonet. I’m proud of you guys. You did incredible!!! Also @dareanrhodes @shannapearre the Sensori Lounge was a DREAM!! And I’m grateful to be in that room!!
Lastly what sealed for me that this was a welcome home… A HAITIAN FOOD TRUCK with PATTIES, DIRI DJON DJON, AND KOLA😭😭😭💕💕 @eatnaos thank you ‘twas a welcome home indeed!!

15 years ago today, Details Made Simple officially became a company 🤍✨

What started as a dream of mine and a love for putting things together seamlessly has grown into something so much bigger than we ever could have imagined.

Over the last 15 years, we’ve had the honor of being part of thousands of love stories, unforgettable celebrations, and once-in-a-lifetime moments. From timelines and venue walkthroughs to fixing dresses, calming nerves, fluffing veils, setting up, and making sure every tiny detail is handled with care - this company has always been built on heart, passion, and teamwork.

Behind every successful wedding or event is an incredible team of coordinators who genuinely care about our couples and clients like family. The long days, late nights, endless emails, problem solving, teamwork, and dedication behind the scenes are what make DMS what it is today - and for Team DMS, I am forever grateful. 🤍

To every DMS coordinator, vendor partner, client, couple, friend, and supporter who has been part of this journey over the years - thank you. Your trust, support, and belief in us helped shape Details Made Simple into what it is today.

15 years later, we are still showing up with passion, purpose, and love for what we do every single day - and we are beyond grateful for it all.

God! Thank you! Forty-Won came in so new. So different. First birthday without my biggest cheerleader, first love and bestest friend: my Mommie. But God, she’s with me always. I’m so grateful for all she taught me and gave me. I’ll always have those things.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

To my friends, my sisters (pictured & not pictured)- thank you for surrounding me in the most beautiful love and support. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for each of you. Dear @culturecon...

Many speak of change. They look at the world and think how they can make a difference. They question if their contribution will really have an impact on the future. It can all be overwhelming and seem impossible at times, but if history has taught us anything, it's that one person can change the world if they dare to step up, go the road less traveled, speak up for the voiceless, and most definitely not give up when the going gets tough.

In case you were not aware, your creator and founder, @imaniimani is just that person. She's changing the world with CultureCon, and this amazing space is something that will have an impact on many for years to come. At a time when people of color are facing systemic racism, discrimination, and disproportionate impacts in various areas of life, she and her team created a community where we could come as we are, take up space, and celebrate the things that make us special.

Attendees had access to learn from leaders with panels and workshops. Rooms were curated to strategize with like-minded people who have already walked the path and want to impart their wisdom. Then came the assignment: Take all your learnings out in the world and become what you were meant to be...successful, creative, healthy, happy, and thriving!

I am honored to be a talent producer again for this festival and witness Imani's vision come to life firsthand. If the prayer was for no one to leave CultureCon the same way they came in, then know based on what I overheard--in that green house, on the yard, and in activation alley--the prayers were answered. Whether you attended or worked the festival, we are all forever changed.
