🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Inverness, the Nevis Range, Elgin and environs with the fam.

If you want to feel like a Bond villain for an afternoon, check out The Macallan Experience. (Highland coo photo ops near the car park.)

The Drouthy Cobbler in Elgin was one of our favorite spots from the trip: fantastic cocktails, amazing food, top-tier service, immaculate vibes. (It’s where Macallan employees go for staff night out cocktails, so that checks out.)

The guys rode two days at Nevis Range (including the mtb downhill course); I took a lovely hike.

Also in Inverness: Leakey’s Bookshop, river walk rainbows, haggis at the Castle Tavern.

Can’t wait to go back! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Oban and Kilmartin Glen with the fam 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Toured and tasted at cozy Oban Distillery (estd. 1794). It was absolutely delightful and delicious. 🥃

Excellent dinner right on the pier at EE-USK (thx for the recommendation @whiskey_drinkers_union 👏) starring Islay oysters, so many mussels, and seafood platters galore.

Visited Bronze Age cairns at Kilmarten Glen, the Nether Largie standing stones, and Dunadd (The Seat of Kings, 500-600 AD).

Mike found the cutest rental (the top floor apartment in the historic Oban Times Building) with amazing views of Corran Esplanade and the harbor.

Things we love about Scotland in general: Gracious hospitality (really, the friendliest people, even to idiot Americans), great pubs everywhere, and dueling chippies (fish & chips takeaway) on every street. I can’t wait to replicate a version of traditional cullen skink (smoked fish chowder) on a blustery night.

Scotland with the fam: Edinburgh

🏰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile

🦞🍻Dinner at The Scran & Scallie being the first of many incredible meals on this trip. Reminder to self: make fish pie more often.

🍸🐕‍🦺St. Bernard’s Bar: teeny, tiny pub, delicious cocktails, dogs of all sizes welcome.

Also, the Scots may have perfected whisky, but their proficiency with cocktails using spirits of all sorts was consistent fabulous.
