When the internet’s favorite virtual prima @anapaowow , announced that she was putting together a Latino Heritage Month event with Daniela Vizcarra @dvizcaarraa of Studio Fuerza @studio_fuerza in Arizona, I knew this was a Pilates class that I did not want to miss. And here’s where it gets interesting. I knew that I was going to break a sweat. But what I didn’t know was that the original founder, Joseph Pilates himself, only ever personally certified two women to teach Pilates. And one of those women was Lolita San Miguel @lolitapilates , a fellow native New Yorker, born to Puerto Rican parents in New York City in the 1930s. So not only did Ana and Daniela provide a space for us to move, they gave us room to grow, to support each other, to take up space, to learn something new and to meet someone new, along with some of my favorite amigas.
