I didn’t think I needed friends when I was in my 6 year relationship.

Or, at least, not more than 2-3 close friends.

And when I ended that relationship, I realized how wrong I was. I was just occupied with the wrong types of activities, for example, staying in because your significant other is home all weekend or watching tv on the couch because that’s how it’s ‘supposed’ to go.

I used to think I’m a huge introvert and needed time away from people to recharge.

But everyone who got to know me at this stage of my life would not believe I’m an introvert at all.

I’m starting to doubt that myself.

At first, after the break up, I’d fill the void in my life with whoever would spend time with me. But over time I’ve learned to pick my companion and to be alone and happy.

Because you’re the five closest people you hang out with. And your income is the average of 10 of your closest friends.

Anyways, as I was taking the time after my long term relationship ended to really focus on improving myself and who I really want to become as a person, I’ve found people along the way that I couldn’t have never imagined my life without.

When one door closes, another opens.

This is a friend appreciation post <3 if you’re in the photos, I luv you ❤️

One of the greatest honours of my life representing South Africa at the G20 Youth Summit (Y20) 2026 in Washington DC 🇿🇦❤️✨

Deliberations, debates, bi-laterals and endless negotiations 🗣️

Proud we reached consensus! Our final communiqué which can now be shared with government bodies, advisors and representatives. You can read it here: https://Inkd.in/ ggSGAYvM

The Y20 youth leadership summit brings together emerging leaders from G20 nations to collaboratively devise policy solutions for global challenges.

But of course, a fit check 📸

Team South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

I represented South Africa in the Digital Innovation and Transformation Track, where advocating for policies I work on the ground through @educationoutreachfoundation and it made the experience even more meaningful. Incredible group of humans!!!

Visiting the SA embassy in DC to hand over of the signed communique! 🙌

Late night site seeing in DC 💫

🤝

Delegate headshots ☺️

The conference was the highlight. But no one saw the 6 months of hard work before the conference, meetings, research and debates behind the scenes 😓

About 40 delegates went out dancing to celebrate the signed communique! At the end of the day the most important thing about these experiences it the relationships built ❤️

Thank you America 🇺🇸

Last week, I had the honor of representing Germany at the Y20 Summit 2026 in Washington, D.C. — the official youth engagement group of the G20.

For months, young delegates from across the G20 have been working together, negotiating and developing concrete policy recommendations for the G20. Last week, we finally brought those discussions together in Washington.

I was part of the Innovation & Digital Transformation track. We discussed how to make digital transformation work for everyone — from digital access and lifelong learning to AI governance, digital wellbeing and safer online spaces.

What made the Y20 special was not only the policy discussions, but the people behind them. Different countries, different perspectives, sometimes very different priorities — but a shared willingness to find common ground.

A huge thank you to my fellow German delegates, everyone in our track, our chairs and the entire Y20USA team for an unforgettable experience and an incredible week of collaboration. From negotiations to conversations, from the German Embassy to exploring Washington and New York — this is an experience I won’t forget.

The negotiations may be over. The work is not. 🤝🌍

It is my distinct honor and pleasure to officially announce that the @y20usa_2026 https://www.y20summit.org/ has concluded with a powerful communiqué highlighting innovative and timely youth-led policy points. All decisions made by world leaders, multilateral organizations, and regional bodies will directly impact the future of youth. And yet, too often, youth voices are not taken into account by those decision-makers. The Y20 exists to ensure the future is built with youth, not just for youth.

It takes a village to put together this massive global convening, and I am enormously grateful to the teams at @globallyorg and @ypfp_main for all their coordination and support of this summit. And a specific thank you to our ten illustrious track chairs, all of whom are USA alumni of the Y7 and Y20 programs.

To our incredible venue hosts, thank you for providing the perfect spaces for the negotiations, conversations, networking, and celebration! Northeastern University Arlington, The Aspen Institute, and the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C. And to our incredible financial sponsors (all of whom are listed on the last page of the communiqué), thank you for making this summit a reality!

To the Y20 USA 2026 delegates, thank you for your leadership, wisdom, camaraderie, and insights throughout this process. Your collaborative engagement underscores the imperative need for multilateralism, diplomacy, and global cooperation to address the world’s most pressing problems.

Now the work of advocating and implementing these policy points begins! I am sending my full support to the @ukfutureleaders, the hosts of the Y20 2027 in the United Kingdom. Continue this significant charge of championing youth policies and providing the space for this important dialogue to flourish.

What’s the most recent or unexpected thing you’ve used ChatGPT for? 👀

I asked some of the world’s leading business creators at Cannes Lions. Their answers covered everything from dating to building a website!

Which use case is your favourite?

Davos, what a week.

The spirit of dialogue was alive and present in the Swiss Alps last week.

Dialogue is not a news anchor telling you what’s happening.

Dialogue is not social media showing you a version of what’s happening.

Dialogue is real people - from different backgrounds, political stripes, and lines of work - engaging with one another, even when we don’t agree.

It’s the shared acknowledgement that the world can be better, should be better, and through dialogue, will be better.

This experience was a powerful reminder that each of us has more agency than we often give ourselves credit for… and that shaping the future isn’t reserved for a few, but belongs to all of us.
