Have you had a #bourbonbarrelagedbeer ?

This week on #thewhiskeytrippodcast , @bigbourbonchief takes listeners on a ride to Port Neches, Texas to chat with @tylerblount2002 , Owner of @nechesbrewingcompany .

Big Chief has collaborated with @nechesbrewingcompany and @treatyoak on the Big Chief Series of Beers. The first of these is a German Dunkel aged in a Treaty Oak #bourbonbarrels three months.

Tyler and the Big Man sit down and chat about the release of this magical beer on April 26th and the other planed beers in the Big Chief Series. Tyler tells listeners how he got into beer and try’s to get Big Chief to pronounce Neches the right way without success.

On the first half, they start the show with Treaty Oak Ghost Hill Texas Bourbon. They also sip on some of the Bourbon Barrel Aged Dunkel.

On the second half the guys sip on the Treaty Oak, @whiskeymyers Red Handed, a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that is 95 proof and has a rye mash bill.

This ride on #thewhiskeytrip showcases Big Chief’s love of Beer and his passion for working with others.
Cheers!

Do you have someone who will travel to the ends of the earth with you?

@vevee621 and I traveled to the @txwhiskeyfest this past weekend. The trip was 900 miles of #backroads , #texasbluebonnets , #smalltowns with lots of laughter and memories made in between. She is certainly my #rideordie .

The #whiskeyfestival didn’t disappoint. We got to see some old friends and make some new ones. @wjclements and his staff did an amazing job dealing with the rain.

Some of the stars of the #festival in our opinion were @elwhiskilero from @stillatx . Everyone should take note of this man, as he is going places. @maverickdistilling and @bendtdistillingco teams for making us feel as part of the family. @jonathanlikarish for rocking #thewhiskeytrip hat. @brandon.mockingbirdspirits for not only taking this photo, but also for making sure we were safely returned to our hotel. @mother_of_texas_whiskey and @marleneholmes29 from @milamandgreenewhiskey for the wonderful conversations. @treatyoak for the amazing food and friendship of @whiskeyslanging and @daniel.r.barnes .

The @texaswhiskeytrail and the @texaswhiskeyorg were well represented and it was nice seeing #texaswhiskey be showcased by @tx_whiskeygeek , @the_whiskeyshaman2 , @im50north , @americanwhiskeymag and @distillery.reviews . Cheers

A look at Texas Whiskey: the past, present, and future. Listen to the Rockstar panel tell stories from the early days of the industry and where they think it will end up.

This Saturday at the Texas Whiskey Festival from 5:45 to 6:45. Some samples will be served, so you miss out on the good stuff.

The event is rain or shine. If the Texas weather decides to misbehave, we have a plan to keep you mostly dry. You might get a little wet, so bring an umbrella, grab one of our ponchos, and join us for a whiskey good time.

NEW PARTNER ALERT - @ladybirdsoda will be rolling out their lineup of premium Texas sodas at the Troutfest TX 24 Exposition. Make sure to find their booth Sat and Sun! “Co-founders Atlas Cheek, Daniel Barnes, and Caroline Fabacher united over a shared passion – to feature the diverse and delicious flavors that make their home state of Texas so special. Named after the groundbreaking Lady Bird Johnson and highlighting flavors that are truly off the beaten path, Lady Bird Soda invites you to slow down and enjoy every sip with intention. Delicious on their own or paired perfectly with spirits, we see every prickly pear, peach, and ruby red grapefruit as the start of an adventure. That’s why we are always on the lookout for new ways to mix up all the wild and peculiar ingredients that we find growing under the Texas sun.”

At Lady Bird Soda, we are inspired by Mother Nature, which is why every one of our sodas is infused with flavor notes found right here in Texas’s backyard. We equally respect our desire for growth with the ever-growing climate crisis and the call for sustainability. It’s critically important that we do our best to leave the world - our communities, our landscapes, and our bodies - a better place than we found it. That’s why Lady Bird Soda is committed to reducing our carbon footprint and overall energy usage, which we do by using recyclable materials and partnering with as many local vendors, creators, and organizations whenever possible. We firmly believe in being the change in the world that we hope to see."

What was your #2023 #whiskeyoftheyear ?

This week on #thewhiskeytrippodcast , @bigbourbonchief takes you on a ride to announce his 2023 #craftdistilleryoftheyear and Whiskey of the Year with special guest Steve Johnson.

In the first half Big Chief announces @treatyoak #distillery Dripping Springs Texas as his 2023 Craft Distillery of the Year. The Big Man explains that #treatyoakdistillery won it with an overwhelming feel of hospitality and experience. Food, Music and great #whiskey is never missing at this Texas Hill Country Gem. Get on the @texaswhiskeytrail and pay them a visit.

In the second half Big Chief announces @makersmark #makersmarkcellaraged as #thewhiskeytrip 2023 Whiskey of the Year. There is no surprise that this Wheated Bourbon at 115.7 proof wowed the Big Man. While there were others that came close, this expression of #makersmark hit all the right spots with sweetness, spice and a long finish.

Big Chief and Steve start the show sipping on a Treaty Oak Single Barrel expression that is 5 years old and 119.7 proof. They finish the show on the second half sipping on the Celler Aged from Maker’s Mark.

This ride on The Whiskey Trip gave Big Chief an opportunity to thank all his great guests who took a ride with him on the Podcast in 2023.

Cheers!
