Collaboration with interpretive dance artist @daniela.ways and drone pilot @sakhnetizm thank you so much for providing me with this beautiful work and allowing me to ruin it with glitches and my weird editing, be sure to follow and support everything they do 🙏🏼

Anatomy of Holding
From an embodied study of memory & movement.
#35mmfilm

Sadness and grief emerge from the same landscape of the body.
Both inhabit the upper chest,
the space of breath, contraction, and emotional weight.
Yet they move slightly different through form.
Sadness folds inward.
Grief folds & reaches.

When emotion becomes unbearable, the body instinctively searches for structure:
something to hold,
something to press against,
something that keeps the self from dissolving under the weight of feeling.
These gestures exist before language. Before understanding...

9 musicians. 9 dancers. Full improvisation.

When I met @dennistumakov and he mentioned what he does my reaction was: “Woah man, I wanna see it nooow”. A few weeks later the magic happened. @motion.the.flow performs at @ash_nuanu

It was incredibly beautiful and emotional. Mind blowing when I had moments to realise that it’s being created right in front of you and will never happen again. Dancers and musicians watching each other, passing notes last minute on stage, bringing all they have into the moment. It’s not just skill.

The last time I felt this immersed was at @punchdrunkint and @sadlers_wells

Wishing the guys a bright journey. Endlessly grateful for letting me experience it here in Bali.

RAPUNZEL
@onlifeideafest
