Two women. Same statin. Opposite results.

The first: cholesterol down, ApoB down — and Lp(a) tripled. Nobody would have caught it, because nobody rechecks Lp(a).

The second: elevated Lp(a), started low-dose, everything improved.

Same drug. Different body. That’s the whole argument for personalized medicine — we know what a drug does on average, not what it does in you.

Starting therapy without a baseline is an assumption.

Your cholesterol went up at menopause. Your doctor mentioned a statin. But before that conversation moves forward — there’s something you need to understand about what’s actually happening in your body.

Estrogen regulates how your liver clears LDL. When estrogen drops, LDL rises. That’s a hormonal shift — not automatically a diagnosis.

Context changes everything: particle size, inflammation markers, independent risk factors like Lp(a). Elevated LDL alone is not the full picture.
