How can you raise the stakes and make your scene come alive? Keep it simple. You’ve done your homework, you know the relationship and the circumstances. In the moment all you need is a specific and simple want from your scene partner. Then, the scene really starts. A lovely note from Dan, one of our amazing acting teachers. Check out his class and others on our website. ✨ Join the troupe.

One of our favourite moments from AktaClass. At its core acting is an exercise in connection and @sometimescerys and @alessandro_curetti make that connection look effortless in this scene. Two really wonderful actors 👏👏👏 Direction by our excellent @danieldebourg of @theartoftheselftape 👌 Join the troupe.

Screening tonight, 25 August at our Short Film Open Screen: THE BOOT ROOM - a Semi-Finalists at our BIFA qualifying Kino London Short Film Festival. A junior footballer navigates the brutal hierarchy of a 1988 professional football club steeped in a culture of systemic bullying. His growing unease culminates in a hesitant act of defiance sparking a brutal backlash. About the event: All films are selected on a first-come/first-screened basis. Our Short Film Open Screen is a great place to showcase your work non-competitively for free in front of an audience of fellow indie filmmakers! Click the link in our bio for tickets.

The Performance Paradox… 🤔 You want to impress casting… so you work hard on your ‘performance’ ❌ Here’s what nobody tells you - Nobody watching your tape is grading your talent. They’re checking for a pulse. For life. For something they believe in. The take you were proudest of, the one you worked hardest on, is usually the one that went nowhere. And the one you almost threw away, where you felt did almost nothing, is the one they remembered. Because - You were never meant to SHOW them anything. You don’t need to be more. You don’t need to do more. You just need to be there. 💫 Be honest, which bar have you been feeding? #actor #selftape #onset #auditiontips

Recently started working with Daniel @theartoftheselftape , and I can honestly say it’s been a game changer. From our very first session, he immediately understood who I am as an actress, what my strengths are, and, more importantly, what we needed to work on. His analysis is incredibly precise, and the way he approaches self-tapes and auditions has completely changed the way I see them. More than anything, this work has been incredibly freeing as an actress. It helped me let go of that pressure and overthinking that can come with auditions, and it completely changed the way I approach the process. I left our sessions feeling more confident, more truthful, and excited to create again. What impressed me the most is how unique his process is. Every note has a purpose, every adjustment feels honest, and somehow he manages to push you further while making you feel completely comfortable and confident. This is only the beginning of what I know will be a long collaboration, and I genuinely can’t wait for what’s next. Thank you, Daniel ⭐️ @danieldebourg
