🔥 Sivan Strauss - SPRINTING out now everywhere! 🔥

Silvan Strauss @silvanstrauss has returned with his third studio album, SPRINTING, marking a sharp stylistic pivot into the frenetic rhythms of Chicago footwork. Following his 2021 Hamburg Jazz Prize win and the live-room improvisation of his sophomore record FLUKIN’, the Hamburg-based drummer and producer is now translating complex, programmed electronic music onto a live drum kit. Inspired by genre pioneers like Traxman, DJ Rashad, and DJ Spinn, the project explores the intersection of human interplay, algorithmic speed, and subculture history.

Rather than relying on massive studio sessions, Strauss embraced a minimalist production approach directly inspired by Traxman’s methodology. He worked strictly from a single sample source, mining it for every possible permutation to push the boundaries of what a live kit can achieve within traditionally electronic spaces. Mirroring his online presence of over 200K followers, several tracks grew directly from his social media improvisations. The drum technique on „All Bosses“ developed from a viral reel where he played water-filled barista cups, while „Moskitos (Fliegen)“ functions as a live-dubbed story layered over experimental percussion.

The record features a diverse, international cast of collaborators, including Petter Eldh, Reuben James, FARHOT, and Maria João. To honor the movement-born roots of footwork, Strauss is partnering with dancers from Brussels to Bangkok to create a series of collaborative videos that translate his abstract time signatures into visual motion. He will debut the new material live this autumn, including a hometown headline performance at the Ernst Deutsch Theatre @ernstdeutschtheater in Hamburg on October 18th.

This is Farhot's edit of Sabah's "Yana Yana" - a 1970 Lebanese love song that became a classic. Sabah (1927–2014) was one of THE greatest Arab divas with over 3000 songs

The way Farhot chops and layers Sabah's vocals is hypnotic - the loop gets stuck in your head and spins. It's genius.This is from his RAQS EP - the word means "dance" in both Dari (Afghan) and Arabic. The whole project samples North African, East African, and Lebanese classics, turning them into dusty disco and deep house vibes at 105-118 BPM. Pure dancefloor energy.
