If I had one wish I’d scoop up all my friends scattered around the country and drop us all into the most perfect paradise to hang out forever. Until I figure out how to do that, I have @marcopoloapp to stay connected to them. My smile was so huge putting these clips together. 🥹One of them is telling me she’s pregnant, a few are just saying “I love you,” most of them are just driving and doing normal life things, some of are having birthdays, one is nursing her baby, some are new friends, and some are decades old friends, but they’re all making my life a little more magical 🫶🏼 DM me for a free PLUS pass to share with all your friends!

A life changing friend… I was sitting in Dr. Chris Green’s house, eating snacks (goldfish and apple juice…long story) and opened this book five years ago. The Bible suggests that we place memorial stones down in life whenever God does something significant and this book, this moment, those gold fish (lol) became a memorial stone. Surprised by God is more than a book, more than a “good read” more than a “you have to read this.” This book, for me, was and is an event of God’s providence happening continuously in my life. When people ask me “Pastor Bill, how would you describe what you believe?” I say “Read Surprised by God by Dr. Chris Green and then let’s get coffee…or something stronger.” I think the reason why this book is an event in my life and not just a good read is because the author doesn’t write anything he doesn’t offer to those who read it. Chris himself embodies faith in a God who hides to be found, is BETTER than being “in control,” and whose surprising at every turn. This book tells us that God isn’t surprising because He is always unexpected, but because He promises to be pure goodness and IS. We are not used to goodness being what it promises and this book rekindles hope in a God who is, surprisingly, what He promises. 5 is the number of grace and each year I have read this book, five in total, each reading has been a “smooth stone” of pastoral work, revelation, and a sense of safety that God will continue to be God for us. Let this book wash over you, provoke questions, inspire thought; it will be a sanctifying interpretation, reminding you that all things are beautiful, that the end will be music, and will push you toward the Lord and His Table. It’s good…REALLY REALLY GOOD! And so are goldfish snacks. Love you Chris and thank you.

Message. 👇🏿👇🏿 More than what scriptures say, we should focus on what they mean, which allows us to have a faithful (true) understanding of what the text is actually communicating.

My wife @lindseyfaithdm is darling. This was a gift meant for my 40th birthday, but only recently was completed, and so I only received it just today (Christmas). And what a gift…. Letters and notes from the dearest of people - my parents, brothers, sisters-in-law, professors and friends. Your words mean more to me than my words in return could express. But, I can live my response to you all. Living in itself is a response. Because simply being alive is a Grace in itself, and since you all know, I won’t elaborate more. And I want to live my next 40 years in real love, care and service of others. Surely while being a worship pastor and youth pastor, I had always hoped to love well as I baptized or wed my friends or buried their parents and grandparents. And it seems from these words of yours that I have, even when I did not know it. But I think there’s more. There’s more for me to do, more that I’m being entrusted to, more to give myself to. Thank you all for your words and our memories. I’m holding open to new possibilities in my next 40 years. @adventchild @joemarksofficial @donnaamaro75 @lindseyfaithdm @cewgreen @danielleelarson @zack_french @noahwygant @kpoonz @racheelraquel @raquelzorro @paulsen173 @mattdurrbeck @elainesydelle @kentanner @drwgreen @brendel.ron @mlandismyland @joeloftheland @thislandisrland @mariemchiara @luisamarierodriguez @cecilymarks @blake_forreal @erinjoy86 @balekerinmarie @fabvalderrama @jessica_gray_dream_vacations @clareandscottloughrige

We had such a life-giving trip filled with so many ‘firsts’ over Thanksgiving. RoRo met cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents and great grandparents. We laughed a lot, took naps, danced, played games, ate delicious food, and shared life. Grateful for time with family and friends, travel, time to recharge, and for love.
