POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Sometimes the life you planned isn’t the one that ends up fitting you best.

Danielle was sure her future included Broadway and an apartment in New York City. Then, after college, an unexpected question from a theater patron led her to a reporting job in Idaho, nearly 2,000 miles from home and nowhere near the life she had pictured.

She assumed Idaho would be temporary. But as her days began to fill with early-morning news reports and evenings performing at The Playmill Theatre, she realized she didn’t have to choose between journalism and acting. Both gave her a way to tell stories, and each made her better at the other.

How many of us have a five-year plan we’re convinced is THE plan? Bonus points if there’s already a Pinterest board devoted to it.

Idaho definitely wasn’t on Danielle’s. As it turns out, that didn’t make it the wrong place.

Comment below if you can’t wait to read Danielle’s story in our upcoming issue!

I’ve spent a lot of my life trying to figure out which version of myself I am supposed to become.

The performer.
The journalist.
The writer.
The advocate.
The girl with a million ideas and a million more dreams ensuite.
The woman trying to build a life big enough for all of them to shine & sit comfortably in her sometimes pocketed dress.

Lately, I’m less interested in choosing.

Maybe The Art of Becoming isn’t about narrowing yourself down.

Maybe it’s about giving every part of yourself room to grow. Watering the possibilities of your abundance, and shining a light in all areas so that nothing blooms in the dark.

I’m learning to trust that in-between, & what an adventure that’s already begun 💡🪅🪩

A photograph captures a moment. And, typically, the ones we see online are pulled from a pile of close contenders.

As glamorous as these are (@uncreatively & the artists behind these being absolute pros at their craft), they don’t quite capture the 2:30 AM daily alarm.

The emails piling up in multiple inboxes.

The hours of rehearsals and research.

The tight deadlines.

The auditions & interviews.

The fear or uncertainty or looming ‘what-if’s’.

They also don’t share tiny victories nobody else sees. Nor the unexpected connections and community shared… or the spontaneity of a large life spread across miles and miles of travel, impulse, and industries.

I think that’s what I’ve come to appreciate most about photographs like these. Individually they don’t show the whole story.

Instead, they summarize the reminder that there is always room for a richer story: one that is deeply layered, ever-evolving, & promptly filled with unexpected surprises. I’ll hope you continue to enjoy following along with this multi-hyphenate one. 🤍
