I have the pleasure of being entrusted to help out with @joshblockk’s rehabilitation following shoulder surgery. I’ve known Josh for years, and shoulder dislocations were such a common occurrence for him, eventually he had to bite the bullet and get surgery.

Surgery had gone really well, but he was left a little bit alone when it came to rehabbing it after (which is a massive shame!) So he rang me up and was like ‘Dan please help’.

I LOVE a good stint of rehab, as I enjoy watching the progression happen over time. But, as much as 1 hour a week in the unit is important, the homework is so much more!

Lucky for me, Josh is a fantastic human and just gets on with it!

We have also dangled the carrot of returning to boxing once it’s healed up, which is such a great goal to stay motivated.

Once his mobility and also confidence was up following surgery we decided to do a testing day to see how strong he was left vs right. I also have percentile data to see, where he sits with other males of his age in comparison. There’s a good 30% discrepancy between surgical and non which I expect and is a great starting point. Hopefully we can get them as close to each other as possible.

If you have an injury and need rehab and guidance, feel free to drop us a message. With our private gym space and technology we don’t guess we test. Getting you back to normality as quick as possible.

We are super lucky to have @fitnessgenes attend our open day on Saturday.

Fitness Genes look at DNA and genetic markers for certain traits we are all born with. I found the testing super easy (just some spit in a capsule) and the results are insanely easy to understand and accurate.

They are around all day to have a chat and doing a massive discount for their kits (over 40% off).

Anyone who attends any session on the day can access this.

Also if you already have an Ancestry, 23andMe or MyHeritage account there is a way for it to be even cheaper.

Look forward to seeing you all on September 26th!

Booking links are in the bio! Or website www.bodyhealthgtawick.co.uk

What an insane 4 days I had up in Manchester with @inscyd_

Learnt a lot on physiology and lactate testing. Something I will hopefully offer in the not too distant future. Also just had a really sound bunch of people I was studying with.

Brain is absolutely cooked and need to process. But keep your eyes peeled!

A little late to the post, but I really enjoyed collaborating with @bodyhealthgatwick at the @secondroundwhitecollarmuaythai Show 🥊

We provided voluntary pre-fight massages throughout the show, with donations going towards charity.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, had a massage and donated. It was great to be able to combine something we love with supporting a good cause, and thoroughly enjoyed working alongside @bodyhealthgatwick 🤍

Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a great day!

4.5 months. One full fight camp. A lot of work. 📈

I recently went back to @bodyhealthgatwick to repeat my VO₂ max and VALD force plate testing with Danielle, after initially testing in mid-March.

The good news? My VO₂ max has increased by 6.7 mL/kg/min — a pretty significant improvement over the last 4.5 months.

A big thank you to @coach_manowar for the strength & conditioning work, particularly the red-zone running and sprint intervals after strength sessions, which have helped move my aerobic fitness forward.

And of course, a huge thank you to everyone at @21stcenturycombat for the work that goes into the other side of my preparation — the rounds, pads, sparring, clinching and everything else that makes up a fight camp. 🥊

The testing also highlighted some areas that still need work. My general strength is looking pretty good, but my maximal force production, rate of force development and reactive strength/power are areas where there’s plenty of room for improvement.

My single-leg rebound jump was a particularly humbling 5th percentile 🫠😂

But honestly, this is exactly why I like testing as it gives us objective data on where I’m improving, where I’m falling short and, most importantly, what we need to change in the programme moving forwards. We can now make my strength programme more specific to my deficits and the physical qualities I need for Muay Thai.

I’d highly recommend this kind of testing to any athlete or sports person, as having targeted metrics can be incredibly useful — but the numbers mean very little if you don’t know what to do with them.

The real value comes from working with someone who can interpret the results and turn them into a plan.

Thanks again @bodyhealthgatwick @daniellepeters_training for the testing, @coach_manowar for the S&C work, and @21stcenturycombat for the fight preparation. Lots achieved this camp, and plenty more to work on. 🥊
