Director and cinematographer Daniel Green (@danielngreen) captured the commercial “From Soil to Sip“ for Export Development Canada, featuring Café William with the ALEXA 35 and ARRI Signature lenses 🎥 He shares: “Our visual approach was guided by authenticity and restraint. That meant embracing natural light, organic textures, and a documentary-style intimacy that could adapt to unpredictable environments. ㅤ “I chose ARRI’s ALEXA 35 paired with Signature Primes and Zooms, capturing in Open Gate ARRIRAW for its remarkable low-light performance, clarity, and tonal depth. The Signature lenses provided a subtle, organic rendering, maintaining sharpness without feeling brittle, while preserving natural skin tones and a gentle, immersive falloff that allowed the image to feel dimensional and human. Twenty days chasing a coffee bean around the world. Delays, heat, chaos, no sleep. Fifty miles offshore on a cigarette boat at 4am, no service, just two coordinates I’d marked hours before on our GPS system. Colombia to Brazil. Standing in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, watching the mountains fade behind the coffee fields, it all felt surreal. Like I’d loaded into a new map. The kind of moment that makes all the chaos make sense. Some of my favourite aerial beats from the piece: 1. Finally locating TOWT 50 miles offshore, paired with a sprinkle of magic from Mathematic 2. Rustling through the bushes to find the highest point of the fields with the most depth, felt like a postcard 3. Calm before the storm 4. The layers and an inversion over the coffee fields with the Sierra Nevada fading into the distance 5. First crack of light on day one in Brazil, a beacon of hope for what’s to come 6.
