Sometimes the best 2D workflow requires a little... 3D!
Love this breakdown from our reel ident created by @danielprothero , @jonokamester & 3D by @iraa.spii
3D block-ins are quite a standard approach to creating dynamic frame-by-frame, as it makes it easy to play around and think spatially before rendering the final sequence.

We’re all guilty of not really stopping to look around. Life gets busy and we can forget to put away our phones and to properly take in the little details of our day. Sometimes, paying closer attention to these seemingly insignificant moments can help us to celebrate the human experience in all its glory.

Our Creative Director, Daniel Prothero, has an inquisitive and artistic eye for these details, which he has beautifully captured in his series of illustrations, ‘A Rainy Day at the Natural History Museum’.

He has shared his inspiration for this touching series, and we hope you love it as much as we do!

Over to Daniel…

“The Natural History Museum is one of my favourite places in the world. I first went to sketch the taxidermy animals, but soon found myself just as interested in the people visiting as the exhibits themselves.

I love the little stories that play out in this shared space: a boy and his dad sulking after an argument in the geology room, or two kids sitting cross-legged with a map on the floor, plotting the fastest route to the dinosaurs.

At home, in front of a blank page, it would be almost impossible for me to invent moments like that. But waiting and watching in a shared space like a museum, these tiny dramas and huge characters are constantly presenting themselves.”

Greeeeeeeeen 🌱! New window installation of my film Allowed at the always incredible @tactilebosch! It’s so different night and day 🌟✨☀️🌦 I’ve loved making this. Do check it out! Bit further up from Cardiff Queen St 🚉 on the opposite of the road. I’ve aimed for sustainability with found rocks, bulb from #longlifelampcompany, indoor climbers 🌱 (thanks to Alex King for the loan of Mega Plant!) and newly sprouting @beebombsdorset (see last pic 🎉!) Hoping to release all 🌱🌱 into the 🌎 at the end with a little ceremony. Huge thanks to @beth.greenhalgh.11 for the opportunity. 💚 Allowed is also showing until 18th Sept @yorkartgallery in the @aestheticamag #AestheticaArtPrize Showcase, and will be coming to more brill film festivals soon!

Really honoured to be among the longlisted artists for the #AestheticaArtPrize, opening this Friday 24th June @yorkartgallery until 18th September, with my work in the Showcase. Here’s a trio of wild urban poppies, the first of which is included in my listed film work Allowed. Please do check out @aestheticamag’s Instagram grid and stories today, where I’m doing an #AestheticaTakeover, sharing my work and practice! 🌟 Thanks to everyone who has supported this work on its journey. 🙏
