Love letter to New York;
I think what I miss most about New York is how much life fits into a single day.

You can leave the house for coffee and come home twelve hours later with a completely different day than the one you planned. You walk everywhere. You notice everything. A conversation overheard on the train, someone playing music on the corner, light hitting a building you’d passed a thousand times.

I miss hopping on the train to meet up with my friends. Walking twenty blocks without thinking about it. Running around for photoshoots. Finding something new every single day. The particular peace of everything from my balcony. Coming home with a bodega bag at midnight.

I spent almost a decade here. Long enough for whole versions of my life to begin and end within a few blocks of each other.

I miss how anonymous I could be here and, how known I felt at the same time.

And every time I am back, my body remembers it before I do. The pace. The chaos. Some places become part of your internal geography.

You can move away, build something new, love somewhere new, and still carry a map of it inside you forever.

There are places you remember fondly, and then there are places your life still seems to be running parallel to somewhere.

Somewhere along the way the city became a language.

New York is the only place I’ve ever missed down to the smallest, most inconvenient details.
The train being delayed. Walking home with too many bags. Someone yelling outside at 2am. Getting caught in the rain. Sitting on the floor of an apartment that was pretty small and somehow never feeling like life was.
