The Wooden Boat Stage will return to Southampton in 2026 with a significantly expanded platform to celebrate, showcase and support the future of wooden boatbuilding in the UK. And we're delighted!
Last year's inaugural community stage proved that the enduring craft of wooden boatbuilding continues to hold strong appeal for a wide audience, and Southampton International Boat Show is investing in the 2026 stage to significantly expand it's presence. Great news for the UK's wooden boat industry.

A long week in the workshop of Apache headquarters stripping and preparing the running surfaces. Spray rails are now straight and sharp. Dips filled. Next step is long-board sanding ready for paint. #searchingforspeed

Amazing to have Dan Lee in the workshop this weekend, combining the very beginning of racing technology with modern 3D scanning capabilities as we record the detailed hull lines of this 1930s Italian Hydroplane.

From this scan we can deconstruct the build, open up the hull lines and offer anything from new build replicas, kit builds and 3D printed cad models. A very exciting prospect!

The dust has settled, and the Boat Building Academy is back to normal after the Southampton International Boat Show and a Royal visit!

We’d like to take a moment to reflect on the boat show and the debut of the Wooden Boat Stage — a space for live demonstrations, talks, and celebrating the craftsmanship and artistry of wooden boat building. It was inspiring to see so much enthusiasm for traditional skills and sustainable materials in one place.

A huge thank you to @womeninboatbuilding and the Wooden Boatbuilders' Trade Association working alongside us to make it all possible. We can’t wait to see the Wooden Boat Stage return for its second year in 2026!
