TRASNA NA LÍNE // ACROSS THE LINE
Saturday, February 28 (Shorts Program 2) • 10:00 AM • AFI Silver

This mockumentary comedy follows student teacher Emma, who through a white lie finds herself working at a Dublin Gaelscoil without a word of Irish. Terrified of being caught, she teams up with Múinteoir Eoin and Múinteoir Aisling, who vow to get her Irish into shape by the end of the day for the highly anticipated Back to School Assembly. Under the guidance of her new friends, Emma nervously takes to the stage to present. All seems well, until, go tobann…

Proud to share that @notimewastersfilm is now @iftaacademy nominated!

This film came from wanting to bring something usually left unseen into view, and I’m incredibly grateful to the entire team who made that happen.

Every person elevated this film into what it became and that collaboration is what makes doing our work so special ❣️

In honour of our leading lady and co-writer of TNL Miss @heatherosulliv winning the RISING TALENT award at this year's @kerryintfilmfest we wanted to gift you all a clip of Emma in all her glory!

We call this scene “Operation Emma." Emma is taken on a journey by Múinteoir Eoin and Múinteoir Aisling as they give her a crash course in Irish.

We were the most excited and nervous to create this montage. We had so much we wanted to play with in such a short space of time. This is the moment where we wanted to shout out all the memes from learning Irish in school, give Aifric her mention and throw in the cursed, yet iconic, Cáca Milis. And let’s not forget those haunting lines; “Léigh anois go cúramach…”

A special shout out to our beast of an editor @daramckeagney who managed to make all the beats work with the utmost respect to gag, and to @suil.amhain who allowed us to use his track ‘Murda Meaisín' which brought the whole piece together.

Also thank you to @virginmediatelevision for allowing us to keep the c u next term mug in ❤️ 😉

It's been a gorgeous week so far - spending a few days in stunning Connemara on a story scout and enjoying delicious local food, then graduating yesterday with my amazing TU Dublin Advanced Producing postgraduate diploma class and celebrating afterwards.
