We’re so proud to introduce our brilliant Production Designer, Rana Fadavi, whose incredible creativity helped bring the world of THE COUNTRY to life.

One of the biggest challenges of making this film was creating an entire religious commune that felt like a real, lived-in world, with its own history, identity and atmosphere. With our full film shot on a single farm, @ranafadavi and her amazing art department team completely transformed the location into the unsettling world you see on screen.

From hand-building the crosses, pews and altars to the smallest details scattered throughout the commune, the thought, care and imagination that went into every corner of the production design was extraordinary. All achieved on an incredibly tight budget and a wildly ambitious shooting schedule.

We couldn’t be more grateful to Rana and her team for the sheer amount of hard work, talent and dedication they poured into creating this world. So much of what makes THE COUNTRY feel real is down to them, and we’re very lucky to have had them as part of our film 🤎

Meet our incredible Director of Photography, Ciaran O’Brien 🎥

From our very first meeting, @ciaranobriendop completely understood what we wanted The Country to feel like. He connected immediately with the world we were trying to create, bringing a beautiful cinematic eye, so many brilliant ideas, and an incredibly calm and generous presence to set.

Shooting across two Sony VENICE cameras, a Ronin 4D and our gorgeous K35 lenses, Ciaran created the textured, intimate and unsettling visual language we had dreamed of. His care for every frame can be felt throughout the film.

Since shooting The Country, Hustle and Run, another beautiful film shot by Ciaran, went on to win the BAFTA for British Short Film, and we couldn’t be happier for him and the whole team.

We’d also like to publicly apologise for the fact that, during one particularly committed running take, Ciaran fell and landed directly on his Ronin 4D, quite literally breaking the camera in pursuit of the shot. A truly heroic commitment to the bit.

We feel incredibly lucky to have made this one with him!
