Aura’s story is one that breaks your heart. Aura was failed in ways no living being ever should be. She was one of many dogs exploited for greed by a person who never protected her, never cherished her, and never gave her the life she deserved. Aura was first found in a shed in Modesto, CA by realtors alone, starving, dehydrated, and suffering. She had no food, no water, and had been left to waste away in silence. The trauma she endured was so severe that her little body bears permanent scars. She lost her paws. After being found, Aura entered a shelter we knew well. At the time, we had no space. Later, Aura ended up at April’s house of horrors a place where dogs were used for greed and not given the care, safety, or compassion they deserved. While living there, Aura somehow suffered a devastating tail injury, essentially cut in half. She also has ground-down teeth, a visible crate mark on her face, and a body that tells a story of prolonged suffering. Aura truly knows. But perhaps the worst wounds are the ones we cannot see. The trauma she witnessed. The cries she heard. The fear she lived in. No dog should ever experience that. This case is part of the Chandler 55 situation. When we learned Aura had no rescue backing, we could not turn away. She mattered. Her life mattered. So we stepped in. Because Aura deserves more than a past defined by cruelty. She deserves a future filled with warmth, safety, gentle hands, and love. Today, we are overwhelmed with gratitude to share that Aura is SAFE and officially being adopted by her foster mom the very person who has walked beside her healing journey, loved her through her hardest days, and showed her what family truly means. To the incredible women who fought for Aura, coordinated her rescue, transported her, advocated for her, and never gave up thank you. Without you, this miracle would not exist. To her foster mom thank you for saying yes when it mattered most. Thank you for becoming her forever. Aura, sweet girl… your suffering did not define you. Your strength did. Your love did. And now your forever begins.
We promise to continue advocating for dogs like Aura. Congrats Aura who a wishlist on our IG linktree!!!

Today was possible because people refused to stay silent.
We thank the brave woman who stepped forward and the many women and rescue organizations who spoke up, documented the truth, and fought to protect these animals. Because of their courage, April McLaughlin was sentenced, banned from owning animals, and held accountable for the suffering of 55 dogs rescued from horrific conditions. Justice doesn’t happen without people willing to stand up. Voices matter ..they save lives.

One of those lives is Aura.
Aura is a special girl with no hind paws and partial legs who moves surprisingly fast despite her challenges. She was first found in Modesto, CA, abandoned in a shed with no food or water, then “rescued” and taken to the Arizona house of horrors, where she was neglected alongside 54+ other dogs.

Her suffering left lasting marks: crate marks embedded in her face, severely ground down teeth, and she had chewed off her own tail clear signs of prolonged trauma. Afterward, Aura went to the Arizona Humane Society, waiting again with no rescue backing, until she joined our pack. We also took in Roo who also had no rescue and was part of the 13 April McLaughlin tried to appeal to get back.

Aura’s foster mom said yes, and it has been the best thing for Aura. She loves her foster family deeply, is affectionate on her terms, and has slowly learned to trust again. She’s been spayed, had dental work, and evaluated at UC Davis, where it was noted she has very little metatarsal structure left on her left leg. Prosthetic legs were donated , and she has a large stroller for outings that was also donated to her.

Aura may be around 7 years old or younger, but neglect shows on her body. She deserves a home where she can just be Aura. She’s dog-friendly but can be picky and prefers not to share attention. She loves her warm bed, soft grass to potty, and food. She would do best in a carpeted home and may need booties or wraps for harder surfaces.

Aura has been through enough.
Now she deserves a loving family in Salinas, CA, who will respect her boundaries and give her the safety she’s never had.

Wow what a new beautiful life Aura is living now. Aura’s foster parents have gone above and beyond to accomodate her. Not only did they accept Aura in hours before release from th AZ humane society but they have changed her life. We cant thank them enough. As a rescue we are just background noise as the fosters are the stars. We couldnt have saved these many dogs without the help of foster homes. We just are so thankful seeing these videos. We have now scheduled Aura for her dental work. In the horrible care of Aprils hands Aura has grinded down her teeth. We hope the vet can clean and salvage what they can. Dental work is scheduled nov 15. We would appreciate donations to help get this going and appreciate everyone who has donated. We are still waiting on the quote for her prosthetics or potential movable wheels. Aura is not a fan of her wheel chair. We also appreciate everyone who Has offered wheelchairs for her. We did make an Amazon wish list. Which we will post below. Foster mom is doing amazing with her and letting her learn things on her own time. She’s not forcing her because aura has been through a lot. We have no idea the actual horrors that she has seen and heard in Aprils home. Again if anyone could donate through our paypal/venmo or website we are very thankful or anything from the Amazon wishlist ♥️🥹✨
