What does ‘growing the game’ actually mean? How is it really done?

It means somebody cared enough to introduce you to their club.

Someone showed you the game.
The culture.
The camaraderie.

Because despite all the technology in the world, rugby still grows the same way it always has.

Person to person.

We spend so much time putting rugby on social media, only for it to mostly end up in front of people already involved in rugby.

Real growth happens out in the world.

Talking to people about your club.
Inviting somebody to give rugby a chance.
Building relationships with local businesses.
Working with local governments.
Volunteering in your community.
A friend bringing a friend.

That is how clubs are built.
Grow. Survive and thrive for generations.

Imagine what this sport would look like if every person in rugby made one real effort each week to speak to somebody about their club, from social players to old boys and girls, yes, even you elite players.

The game was handed to us by people who cared enough to grow it.

Now it is our turn. Get it done, club rugby.

Some NGBs still don’t get it.
Some never will.
Doesn’t matter anymore.

The future of the game won’t be built in stadiums.

It’s built here.

Having the goods and not having the goods – what makes up an NFL player or international rugby player, with a slight bias towards an USA Eagle?

Here's @danorugby's take on the news that left the rugby world stunned yesterday 😲.

Welsh rugby sensation @lrzammit sets his sites on the gridiron, ready to tackle American Football with the same flair that made him a try-scoring maestro!

Can he do? What challenges do you think this cross-over presents?

Happy Thanksgiving Wallabies family! Grateful for all the players, parents, families, coaches, volunteers and refs that make this all happen. To all our fellow SoCal teams, to SCYR and for everything this magnificent game brings us.

Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.
