The two new fab labs at GlobalFoundries is part of a $550 billion investment from Japan into the United States economy. U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick said the money will be directed into areas like pharmaceuticals and semiconductor production. Lutnick added GlobalFoundries has also agreed to give 7% equity of the company to the U.S. government. He says President Trump will decide the money from the equity gets distributed.
