Announcing the Illustrators 64 Call for Entries! Open now until Monday, October 25. ⠀
⠀
For 64 years, the Illustrators Annual has served as an important archive, documenting through visual narratives, the events and movements of our times. By submitting to the Illustrators Annual, you are supporting an endeavor much greater than the exhibit and book. Revenue generated from this competition enables the Society of Illustrators to continue to provide our educational initiatives, events and exhibits, community outreach programming and so much more.⠀
⠀
🌟Continuing to offer The SI Give Back Fund!🌟 The Society understands the unprecedented challenges that the world, and the illustration community, are experiencing right now. In the interest of making the competition more accessible for artists with limited resources, we have created a Fund for those who otherwise would not be able to enter the Annual. ⠀
⠀

This week, I finally cleared out the weeds, leaves, and old stems from our plot and added fresh soil and compost. Yesterday, our family planted veggies and direct sowed seeds. Here’s what we’ll be growing in our plot.

Annual dye plants:
-cosmos rubenza
-cosmos pinkie
-sulphur cosmos
-cosmos dwarf early variety
-wild cosmos seed mix variety
-dyers coreopsis
-cinnamon coreopsis
-indigo, persicaria tinctoria
-madder root (I planted this a year ago, and it’ll be another year or more until I can harvest the roots for dye)
-red rubin basil
-flambé French marigold mix
*I have a bunch of dye seeds left over so they’ll go in the community flower beds this week!

Perennials:
-strawberries
-dahlias (I have tubers from the last few years. Usually, people dig up their tubers in the winter and store them in a dry place. There’s always a chance that if left in the ground, they’ll get too wet and rot. I always roll the 🎲, and luckily, the tubers held up this year, so fingers crossed 🤞we’ll get some flowers)
-madder root
-tulips in the community flower beds

Veggies:
-carrots
-bell peppers
-cherry peppers
-habanero peppers
-brandywine tomato

The seeds are finally in the ground and I’m excited for this season and to watch this place transform 🌱

Thanks to everyone that came out last weekend for EVENT! I did not take enough photos because I was enjoying all ya'll's company too much!

Hope folks had some nice chats and snacks. We will be looking to have another one in a couple of months, maybe just as an excuse to make more puffy paint t-shirst!

Thanks as always to @pingszoo and @dansalmieri for helping me make this unstructured fun come to life ❤️

Come Draw With Us Already! is a little show our studio lovingly made for your eye balls.
Studiomates @joshcochran and @dansalmieri have been making these giant collaborative drawings together for awhile now so we decided to film it. I got to direct and generally be bossy for this and I'm so drunk on power now that we're definitely going to make more. All things video masterfully done by @studio.oiseau and dreamy music by @erikblad .Link in my bio, go watch it instead of being productive!
