Why Palm Springs?

It’s usually the second question after “full-time or part-time?”

I’d say the past couple months sum up my why pretty perfectly. Dozens of friends and family came to visit — so many that I actually lost count but loved an always-full house. And that’s the thing about Palm Springs… there’s always something happening for residents and guests to enjoy. From the excitement of watching my favorite Carlos Alcaraz at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells to the Palm Desert Food & Wine Festival, incredible restaurants, speakeasy cocktail bars, the best kind of Sunday funday drag shows, or simply relaxing entire Saturdays in the pool.

With more sunny days than anyone could dream of, it offers more opportunities to enjoy the views from the top of a hike, work on my golf swing, and keep improving that pickleball backhand that always gets me.

But doesn’t it get hot in the summer?
Yes… but not nearly as cold as Minnesota gets in the winter. ☀️

Thank you to all the friends and family who made the trip to visit — and for always making me feel at home, no matter where it is.

Plane ride = multiple hours of boredom = random retrospective Instagram post

2024 has brought both immense highs and deep lows. And since the election, I’ve grappled intensely with my understanding of who my community is and how they think about this world we all share. To be honest, I behave a little differently these days. Every day, I question my notion of right vs. wrong, how to engage with my peers, how to cope with my feelings of despair, etc. Some days are really difficult and frustrating. Some are okay. Some are mysteriously euphoric.

Anyway, I can’t comprehend what 2025 might look like for me, those I love, or the rest of society, but today, I’m grateful for what I have. Here are some captures of the many friends, family members, and experiences I’m grateful for.

And there are so many more incredible humans I am lucky to share my life with who are not pictured!

PS. Apparently I can’t tag more people; sorry @shaeaj , @thepopnlocknessmonster , @madelynnejohnsonn , @jakehatesinstagram , @kyledgeorge , and @tylerchoppe. ❤️
