📌INTERVIEW | ART REVIEW:

He was going blind.

Doctors found a brain tumour pressing on his optic nerves, slowly taking his sight.

After surgery restored it, he made a promise to himself: one full piece of art, every single day, for an entire year.

A few months in, he picked up a Sharpie almost by accident.

It never left his hand again.

“If I have the desire to create, then I create. Don’t let circumstance or doubt stop you.”

His collectors now include Spike Lee, Robert “Kool” Bell of Kool & The Gang, Eric Roberson, Posdnuos of De La Soul and former Miss America Cheslie Kryst.

Proof that a marker pen in the right hands can hold real cultural weight.

Full interview with award winning artist Daniel Jenkins out now.

THE ARTIST SERIES | PART III: THE SIGNATURE 🎨

A style you recognize before you ever see the name.

For Jersey City Semi-Abstract Portrait Artist @danstuckie , the goal is to create work that is unmistakably his — pieces defined by movement, texture, expression, and a signature all their own.

From vision, to process, to the finished work.

This is Daniel Jenkins at Vanilla Skies.

Select works featured throughout Vanilla Skies are available for private acquisition. For acquisition inquiries and additional information, please contact us directly.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to aspiring creatives?

“Create as much as possible, no matter your situation. If you have the desire to create, then create. Don’t let circumstance or doubt stop you.”

Artist @danstuckie creates pieces that combine figure work and abstraction. Purposely setting out to merge polar opposites together Daniel has a unique and distinct style that he has consistently produced. Shortly after finishing art school Daniel began having vision problems and after multiple tests and doctor visits he found out he had a brain tumor putting pressure on his optics nerves and causing him to slowly go blind. After a successful brain surgery the tumor was removed and Daniel’s eyesight was fully restored. Taking this as a sign to not neglect his talents Daniel set out on a task of doing one full piece of art everyday for an entire year straight. This endeavor led him to eventually merge his classically trained figurative work with his love for abstraction and abstract expressionism- allowing him to combine his schooling with his life experience.
