𝐃𝐞𝐤𝐚𝐝𝐚 '𝟕𝟎 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐦 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 🎬, brought to you by @cap.melb

Some stories do not remain in the past. They linger—in the rooms of our homes, in the things we are afraid to say, and in the memories passed from one generation to the next.

Set during the years of Martial Law, Dekada ’70 follows the Bartolome family as the political unrest of the Philippines slowly finds its way into their home. What begins as something distant becomes deeply personal, shaping the lives, fears, convictions, and relationships of each member of the family. Through Amanda Bartolome’s awakening, the film reflects not only a woman finding her own voice, but a people beginning to reckon with what it means to live under silence and uncertainty.

Here, we gathered with Concerned Artists of the Philippines (CAP) to revisit Dekada ’70 and open a discussion around the film—its portrayal of Martial Law, its impact on Filipino families, and the ways its questions continue to speak to us today.

We had a meaningful Educational Discussion on Art & Culture with the Concerned Artists of the Philippines (CAP) — exploring the role of artists in culture, community, and social change.

Create. Question. Remember. Speak.
