"ABOUT LAST NIGHT" I had the chance to experience a preview of the amazing Limon Dance Company at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center. Established in 1946, they are celebrating their 80th Anniversary this year! It was founded by Mexican born Jose Limon with Doris Humphrey as his Artistic Director. The current Artistic Director Dante Puleio so articulately shared the history of the company as well as its evolution with new creatives such as choreographer Aszure Barton. The company danced an excerpt from a 60's piece choreographed by Jose Limón, a piece he choreographed in 1958 and reconstructed in 2026 by Logan Frances Kruger entitled "Suite From Mazurkas" and an excerpt from 2025 entitled "Join" choreographed by Aszure Barton. It was such a bonus to have the company sit with us for a Q&A after the show! As a patron of the dance community, I can say that what they offered was poetically fluid and uniquely their own! They will begin a week long engagement at The Joyce Theater from October 6th through the 11th. I highly recommend you see them if you can!😍❤️💯🕺🏻💃🏽🎶👌🏽 #aboutlastnight #joselimondancecompany #happyanniversary #dantepuleio #laguardiaperformingartscenter

A lot of work, a lot of laughs - there will be hard days ahead, no doubt, but swimming in the good stuff this summer. 🥰

Dancer and choreographer José Limón pioneered dramatic techniques that continue to influence modern dance. His legacy is carried on by the company he founded, @limondance, which is celebrating its 80th Anniversary this year. @donnahanover stopped by a rehearsal and spoke with Artistic Director @dantepuleio and dancer @olivia_mozie to find out more.

Check out @limondance performances at @thejoycetheater this October!
