RAÍCES QUE MIGRAN | ROOTS THAT TRAVEL 🌱💜

This mural is a tribute to my Latin American family, to everyone who leaves one place behind but never leaves their roots behind like myself for always no matter where I am and have the opportunity to share my art with others I always bring my own culture and background with me which as an artists and immigrant that’s extremely important!
It’s like one of my favourite quotes from my country. O favelado pode sair da favela mais a favela já mais sairá do favelado”
which translates to “you can get out of the hood but the hood will never get out of you “ this for me has always been beyond a narrow minded small hood and criminal stuffs for me it goes way further, it’s bringing who you r with you proudly no matter where you go

I wanted to create something that could represent Latin America as a whole. The jaguar, macaw, toucan, araucaria, cactus and Maya warrior all carry pieces of our history, our land and our identity. And those roots are a reminder that no matter where life takes us, we carry our culture with us and pass it forward.
But honestly, this mural became much more than the painting for me.
Coming to Holland as an immigrant myself made this experience very special. I connected with the people, the environment, the culture and the way everyone welcomed me. I felt at home.

It was beautiful to see how we Latin people can adapt, build new roots, find each other, celebrate, create and keep our culture alive no matter where we are.. 💪🏾
I’m also very grateful for all the amazing artists I met, the friendships, the collaborations and all the good energy we shared. I’m leaving Holland with memories and connections that I truly hope will last a lifetime.

A huge thank you to Mi Favorita for believing in this mural and supporting what we were creating for the community.
And thank you Tulip City Walls and the whole organizing team for inviting me and making me feel so welcomed. Chris, Lori, Lexie, Dante and my Boricua brother Jose, muchas gracias por todo el cariño, apoyo y buena energía.

Sometimes you have to leave home to feel at home.
And somehow, that’s exactly what this mural became for me.

Guerrero protector azteca !

Gotta say I was so excited to start on this part of my wall that I didn’t even go all the way up with the outline, but as always somehow does it worked out sweet 🙏🏾

Gonna share some progress steps on the elements of my mural for @tulipcitywalls what a beautiful time down there !

Much love the the Latin culture and community out there too that kept me well fed and hydrated! Muchisimas gracias mi gente 🙏🏾💜💥
