🎹 A glimpse behind the scenes of recording the fortepiano and square piano on-camera pieces ✨

Delighted to have played and recorded these pieces by @rogergoula, as well as the accompanying part of a duet I arranged, for the new @sensesensibilityfilm from @universalpictures

Recorded at the wonderful @urchinstudios, with the brilliant @danurchin behind the desk.

A little recording detail: notice Dan only mic’d one side of the square piano - as its sound only comes from one side!! Was like only having one ear! 👂

There’s something truly special about the sound of these pianos - their intimacy, character, and the way it transports you to another time. To have played a part in bringing this transcendent music to life for such a beloved story is a real privilege 🎬🎶

The fantastic @confarr @heyheyitsgeorgiamae @thinksyncmusic overseeing everything and helping coordinate the days there! 😃

Ps - true fact, they were recorded without my sandals or trainers on…! It was very warm both days.

@danurchin had the great pleasure of recording this beautiful Square Piano (circa 1840) with @rogergoula and @grahammccusker for the new @sensesensibilityfilm in Studio A! We also did some Forte Piano, string quartet and some traditional folk music ensemble but we forgot to take any pictures of those things 🤦
