“The legends say ‘Beware the Yeti’, with no mention of the real danger—his Apple Pie Moonshine!”

The scheme to create a figure for ROMA Collectibles’ Aaron Detrick was first hatched at JoeFest last year. Conceived by Chris Scott and quickly embraced by many contributors, the goal was simple: to develop and surprise Aaron with a special action figure while he was undergoing cancer treatment. Chris Scott, Kenny Koepnick, Ben Conway, Mark O’Byrne, Troy McKie, Paul Kirschstein, Dave Proctor, Dan Watts, Doug Hart, John Kukovich, and more came together to bring the figure to life. We grabbed the codename YETI from ROMA Collectibles’ mascot, which we later learned was also Aaron’s high school nickname. His passion for teal Ninja Vipers inspired the color palette and the outfitting of dual katanas. As ROMA had long been our go-to plastic trader, we cast Aaron in the role of Red Shadows’ Weapons Supplier. We blended and melded the things he loved into one retro O-ring figure of awesomeness.

Sadly, Aaron passed away on January 10th after an 8-month battle with cancer. Deeply saddened, we’re also incredibly grateful for the time we shared over the years. During his treatment, we had phone and video calls, discussed progress, and shared reveals. We were also able to see Aaron at @codenameiowa ‘s Assembly Required in November and made a late-night visit to his room to show him the YETI paintmaster and final packaging artwork. A Celebration of Life was held at this year’s @joefest_toy_comic , organized by showrunner Ed Schumaker, and it seemed to be the right time to share what we’d been working on. So, last weekend we gathered once again to honor Aaron. Thank you to Ed, Sara, Ryan Melzer, Molly Williamson, @toydepartment ‘s Chris Neal, Brian Kauffman, Pat Stewart, Justin Caravoulias, James Kavanaugh Jr, James Hitchcock, and everyone who attended the event. We laughed, cried, ate, drank, and told stories—surrounded by the warmth of a community that always shows up for each other.

This project has always been about support, and net proceeds from the YETI figure will go to Mrs. ROMA, and we’ll announce the release date as soon as we’re able. Thank you all! ❤️

ISSUE TWO IS SOLD OUT! We will not be reprinting another run at this time.
.
Thank you everyone! It means so much to me to keep seeing the interest and excitement in this series - especially during a time where we can’t visit you all at conventions!

This was the most ambitious release to date, truly blood, sweat and tears in every sense of those words @maxmyint and @iamzacs - and those that contributed to an all star team: @makecoolshitdie @marc.noble and @danwattsillustration (artwork featured on T-shirts and back cover!)
.
I will be working hard on getting Issue 3 off the ground - I really can’t wait. For those who have read Issue 2...you know what happened... it’s going to be an interesting journey to see what happens next to the man they call NED!
.
Issue One and Two are available @ownaindi as a digital download for $2.50 each!

Only 6 copies of ISSUE 2 are left from my stock!!!
.
I am really missing being there for all the comic cons so this is amazing to see. My HUGE thank you to everyone who continues to support I AM NED!
.
And on that note - to show my appreciation I want to share a small teaser of something special that me and @danwattsillustration have been dying to show for ages!
.
As for me, I’ve been taking this time to work on a few key things behind the scenes things. I’m pretty excited to share more, and all I can say is if you haven’t read Issue 2 - do it, coz we’re going to be talking more about where we go from there leading into Issue 3! I’m pumped 💪🏼
