🌍 Speaker Announcement: Danyah Reaah

@danyaryah is a Computer Engineer, Digital Literacy Advocate, ITU160 Gender Champion, and Youth Engagement Officer (UNV) with UNICEF Iraq. Through digital literacy programmes, civic participation campaigns and Arabic educational technology content, she helps young people, especially girls, navigate digital spaces safely and confidently. Her work also explores AI-powered solutions to misinformation and encourages more young women to see technology as a space where they belong, contribute and lead.

Her session will focus on Digital Literacy and her journey to creating digital solutions to crucial social problems and how more girls can be part of that movement.

There are rooms built from walls.

And there are rooms built from responsibility.

Today, I stepped into one carrying voices that had never learned the architecture of power. In a dialogue with the Regional Director of UNICEF and the United Nations in Iraq, I spoke as I knew best: through the language of science. I spoke of research, of discovery, of the quiet faith that every civilization has always placed in the minds willing to imagine what history had not yet written. Every bridge, every remedy, every revolution first existed as a thought entrusted to someone curious enough to pursue it.

Yet my thoughts keep returning to something far gentler.

An Iraq gathered into a single room.

Accents that had crossed mountains and deserts. Histories that had never met. Cultures that had grown beneath different skies. And still, hope required no translation.

For a fleeting hour, the country ceased to feel like scattered geography. It became a constellation. Separate stars, luminous in their own right, revealing their true beauty only when seen together.

I left believing a little more deeply in tomorrow.

Not because the future is promised to us, but because I caught a glimpse of the people patient enough to write it.

Some days pass quietly into memory.

Others become the reason memory learns to glow.
