September 4th, 2016 - Riot Fest Denver

How I was lucky enough to see the first Misfits reunion show right up the street from where I lived I will never know.

The crowd was absolutely nuts, at least up front. At one point I was buried in a mountain of people, feet not touching the ground and no sight of the sky or anything around.

Later on, I stood next to Fat Mike of NOFX for a few minutes and we both gazed at the massive stage like “yeah, this is pretty cool”.

I remember listening to the drums and being quite impressed, since it sounded like they got a drummer more suited for a metal band. A short while into the set, Glenn announced that it was Dave Lombardo of Slayer behind the kit, and it made sense. What I found amazing is that just a couple hours earlier, I watched Lombardo play a fairly long set with Suicidal Tendencies, which alone is a feat of endurance. To discover later that he was holding it down for the main event was awesome. Truly one of the best percussionists in the world of rock music. As a big Slayer fan, that was just icing on the cake.

As a similarly big fan of Dope and Murderdolls, seeing Acey Slade on rhythm guitar was also a pleasant surprise.

The band was at the top of their game, Glenn was as edgy as ever, and it was quite the spectacle overall.

Anyway, enjoy these pictures from that night.

If you would like to see a far lesser version of this historic event, hit us up for a ticket to our show at @globehalldenver on October 23rd.
