Body Hair (2024)
by @daphneeferrer
8-page mini zine
2.75 by 4.25 inches

Women living within patriarchal societies are often made to feel ashamed for simply existing, and body hair has long been treated as something women must hide or remove. Growing up, I carried deep insecurities about my own body hair, only to later discover that many of my friends from different cultures experienced the same shame. Despite coming from different backgrounds and countries, the expectations imposed on women remained strikingly similar.

Through this work, Filipina, Brazilian, and Colombian women reclaim ownership of their bodies by rejecting the shame attached to body hair. I photographed my Brazilian and Colombian friends for this project, incorporating scanned images of real female body hair to confront societal standards of femininity, beauty, and acceptance.

Sampung natatanging tinig.
Sampung magkakaibang pananaw.

Walang Orasan sa Bahay na Ito by Bea Mariano brings together moving image, live sound, and spoken word in a house where time refuses to be measured.

The screening is accompanied by Xyh Tamura’s live scoring and the poetry of Nanay Nanette Castillo, written in memory of her son, a victim of the extrajudicial killings. What emerges is a collective act of witnessing, where grief, sound, and image converge outside the confines of the clock.
