"Even though I am fortunate enough to have a home studio space that I work in," explains sponsored Studio Tour artist Dara Weyna @daraweyna, "this residency time has allowed me to be creative in a completely different way that I'm not normally willing to allow myself in my own space. "There are these little bits of clarity and sparks, and I think just changing your environment. I never really understood the value in that. And I really, really value that now. "Coming here got me out of all the visual things in my own space. I could come here and *not see* all my own things that make me think of the same ol' stuff. Here, I can just be in the work. And that is really valuable for me. "You should absolutely pursue an artist residency at some point in your career! Whether it's that you're just starting your art career and you need that time and space to kind of glue some of your ideas together and figure out what you want your path to be as an artist. "Or if you're a more established artist and just... you need some time to breathe, even from your own work and give yourself that opportunity to play and be outside of your own environment." Come to the Fort Collins Studio Tour this weekend to meet Dara and hear more about her inspiration, her current projects, and her experience as an artist-in-residence this summer at Kestrel Fields Studio. Fort Collins Studio Tour Studio 22-23 2434 W Vine Dr. Saturday, October 24, 10am-5pm Sunday, October 25, 12-5pm

✨️ Introducing one of our two sponsored 2026 Fort Collins Studio Tour artists, Dara Weyna! ✨️ @daraweyna Dara was in-residence here in August and it was a joy to witness her at work. 🥹 She is a multi-disciplinary artist working in the mediums of painting, drawing, crochet and collage. Her work merges bold, vibrant colors with clean, curvaceous lines, creating a dialogue of unapologetic joy, playful sensuality and quiet strength. Dara explores physical and emotional connections to the female body, land, and the creative spirit. These subjects share a celebration of vulnerability and fortitude, and serve as metaphors for the human experiences of emotional expansion, intimacy, comfort and growth. 🎨 Stop by Kestrel Fields Studio on the Tour, Studio #22 The Carriage House at 2434 W Vine Dr. Saturday, October 24, 10am-5pm Sunday, October 25, 12-5

Thank you to @krfcfm and Midtown Gary! Earlier this summer, our exhibiting artists, Dara Weyna (@daraweyna) and Jai Cochran (@jaicochranart) joined Midtown Gary on air in the @krfcfm studio to talk about their exhibition, Shaped by the Land, and their connections in the community. Dara and Jai were fabulous speakers, and we appreciate @krfcfm’s welcome and encouragement to talk about our local arts scene. If you have something to share about from your nook in Fort Collins’ creative sector, reach out to KRFC! Though Shaped by the Land has wrapped up, you can follow both Dara and Jai at the handles above or at daraweyna.com and jaicochranart.com.
