What an honor it is to stand among such an extraordinary group of women.

The 2026 Inspiring Women’s Award Gala, presented by Pay It 4-Ward Projects, is about so much more than one award or one story. It is a celebration of women who lead, serve, build, nurture, advocate, create, overcome, and continue making a difference in the lives of others.

I am deeply grateful to be recognized as a 2026 Overcomer’s Award recipient, but today I also want to celebrate every woman being honored. Each woman represented has her own journey, her own testimony, and her own contribution to our communities. Together, we reflect the strength, resilience, compassion, and determination that make Texas strong.

I celebrate the women who kept going when life became difficult.
I celebrate the women who served quietly without recognition.
I celebrate the women who turned pain into purpose.
I celebrate the women who opened doors, built organizations, strengthened families, and created opportunities for others.

This is truly a party with a purpose, benefiting Christmas in November and supporting young adults ages 18–25. That mission is especially meaningful to me because of our work through Destiny Empowerment Enterprises, Inc. and FINALLY HOME at Rachel’s House, where we help young women aging out of foster care move toward stable, independent adulthood.

Please join us as we honor these remarkable women:

Saturday, August 29, 2026
5:00 PM CST
Tickets are available through Eventbrite by searching Inspiring Women’s Award Gala.

Congratulations to every honoree. Your work matters, your story matters, and your impact deserves to be celebrated.

Oh what a day to become an AKA! Congratulations to my Lil’ Sis Destiney Tolbert @simplynotperrfect, an older sister to my longtime mentee @dareiajacobs, whom I had the distinct pleasure to pin and welcome to our illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Omega Alpha Omega Chapter @oao1908. I was also honored to support D’Ani Pullam @dtpullam! All 13 of our new sisters are dynamic and I cannot wait to see their success in AKAland! Kudos to all who coordinated the membership and luncheon experiences. It was great to hear the occasion from @thechellewilson and keynote address from #OAO Chartering President Patrice Withers @pnwspeaks. The soothing sounds from harpist extraordinaire and golden sorority sister Grace Johnson was a special treat! I love our sisterhood. #AlphaKappaAlpha #AKA1908 #OmegaAlphaOmega IMessenger #TexasMetroNews GarlandJournal

ENDORSEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

The Next Generation Action Network (NGAN) is proud to endorse Dareia Jacobs for Dallas County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4 – Place 2.

Dareia Jacobs is a community advocate who will bring compassion, transparency, and integrity to the court. She is deeply committed to our community and believes in a justice system that people can understand, trust, and navigate especially those who have historically been left behind.

The role of Justice of the Peace is critically important, particularly as our community faces a growing crisis of poverty and economic inequality. These courts are often the first point of contact for families dealing with housing insecurity, fines, and civil matters. That is why NGAN believes it is essential to have JP judges who lead with empathy, uphold due process, and ensure that everyone’s rights are protected.

Dareia has remained rooted in the community, staying connected to the people she seeks to serve. Her commitment is not seasonal it is consistent.

We invite the community to join the Next Generation Action Network in supporting Dareia Jacobs to be our next Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4, Place 2.

Justice should serve the people.
Compassion belongs on the bench.

As we continue Black History Month, we keep honoring the trailblazers who didn’t just make history, they changed what was possible. Their courage, excellence, and perseverance live on in the fights we take up, the doors we open, and the stories we choose to keep telling.
