DIRECTOR’S CUT: Ambrio at @ctmfestival Berlin 🇩🇪

First, there’s Ulrik Van Hecke. Founder of Ambrio and my best friend since kindergarten. He invited us to Berlin to capture Ambrio, a spatial mixer developed by his Brussels-based startup. We filmed it at @ctmfestival, inside @hausdervisionaereberlin, while it was being used by @dj_mellg, @ophelieeeee__ and @shpd_ns.

And then there’s @tuur.dhooge. A close friend who has often managed to translate what I had in mind into images and edit. For this one, he pushed it even further, putting an insane amount of work into the edit and especially the sound design.

A few moments of the journey so far. 💫

We’d like to thank all the artists, promotors, engineers and everyone who supported us and gave us the opportunity to test and develop our prototype. 🧡

This year, we secured funding and our team is now working towards the final design of the world’s first spatial performance mixer.

It’s really more of an instrument than just a mixer. Artists express themselves and we want to give them the best possible control over that expression.
Space is just a new dimension we’re adding to the artist’s creative toolkit.

In the coming months, we’ll be sharing the story of building this device and putting it in the hands of artists who want to go that step further, creating those moments of connection that music makes possible.

Follow along. We’d love to hear from artists, sound engineers, dancers and listeners alike. Your perspective helps us build the right tool.
