Celebrated the life of my long time trainer, coach and friend. It’s was a bitter sweet day. He was taken too soon. Make sure to love every day to the fullest. That’s what he would say to you. Hugs and prayers to his whole family. See you on the other side buddy. ❤️🙏🙌

Good Morning! Sorry I haven’t been doing my morning posts this week. This past week has been a little tough on me as I’ve been working on a video and slideshow for Darin Steen , a friend and client that passed away the day after thanksgiving. Through the edit I’d find myself thinking of something I’ll ask him in the next interview only to realize that it’s never going to happen. It got me thinking of the old question “Is it better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all?” I can honestly say I answered absolutely. I wouldn’t trade the time we spent together to rid the pain of him being gone. I thank God I went and talked to him. I’ve met some great people through him that are now lifelong friends. I have received some really nice messages from his family and friends on the impact I was having on him as well as the comfort I was able to bring them with the video. I’m grateful for that. I miss his encouragements and random voice texts. “Scott write this down…” He encouraged me to be an encouragement to others. He genuinely cared about me. It wasn’t just business with him or about what’s going on with him. He wanted me to feel empowered to use my skills. He would tell me “I’m leaving that up to you, you’re the professional.” I’m really going to miss him. His memorial service is today. I’m going to celebrate the man he was. I’ll cry and I’ll laugh but I’ll take comfort knowing he’s in heaven with no pain or worries. I know I’ll get to see him again. So all that to say that we can’t stay down no matter what we are going through. Our life is quick. I don’t care if you go at 56 or 106. You blink and it’s over. What are you doing with your life? Love deeply and push out the negativity. Life is too short to let others rob you of your best life. Make the adjustments you need to. Let’s get it!

“You have the power to change to make the rest of your life the best of your life”

This is gonna be hard one 🙏❗️❗️

I met Darin about 10 years ago when I first started my personal training career. He was holding a seminar on a proper form, breathing technique as well as mind muscle connection… I am a strong believer that life is never ending journey and that we learn until the day we die. That day I have learned probably more then I have in the past 10 years all together. Darin and I remained close friends and we often talked about everything from personal training to how can we make this planet a better place. He would always tell me to follow my heart and listen to what my gut is telling me.

I wish we had more time and I wish you didn’t have to leave so soon. You will always have a special place in my heart and may your legacy continue forever.

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER
Until we meet again

Good morning! Thank you everyone who reached out or showed some love yesterday. It was a rough day. I didn’t know Darin Steen very long but it was like we were friends forever. He was just that kind of friend. He really helped me be more confident about trying to be an encouragement to others. He was an uplifting soul and I’m so grateful I decided to stop by his place and have a conversation with him. Selfishly I’m upset about all the things we were working on that will never be completed. I want him here to say thank you for the encouragement he was. But I take comfort in knowing that he is with Jesus and his ripple effect will continue through friends and family. I know if he was here he would tell me to keep being an encouragement and take that next step at creating my best life. So that’s what I’m going to do.
Take the time to love and be grateful for all God is doing in your life. In the good and tough times look for ways to be positive. God will be right there with you. Take that next step to becoming a better you. Love you guys. Let’s get it!

Picture is from Darin’s gym of a quote he would often say.

A short excerpt from an interview I shot with personal trainer and life coach Darin Steen. Tragically Darin was taken from us yesterday from a massive hemorrhagic stroke. His passion to help people live their best life was evident by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
