🌧️ Science doesn’t stop when it rains.

Fieldwork is about showing up, adapting, and collecting the data that matters—even when the weather has other plans.

Every rainy day in the forest is a reminder that passion, resilience, and dedication are just as important as the equipment we carry. Behind every research finding is a team willing to go the extra mile for science. 🌿🔬

In tree climbing, safety begins with the basics—and knot tying is one of the most critical skills.

Every knot serves a purpose: securing the climber, managing load, and ensuring stability at height. A well-tied knot can mean the difference between efficiency and risk.

Mastery of these techniques is essential not only for effective fieldwork but also for maintaining the highest standards of safety in ecological and environmental research.

I’m proud to share that I have successfully completed my MPhil degree in Environmental Science @University of Energy and Natural Resources and have successfully defended my research work.

My research focused on host–parasite interactions of Thonningia sanguinea across different forest ecosystems, contributing to a deeper understanding of ecological relationships and forest dynamics.

This journey has strengthened my skills in ecological fieldwork, data analysis, tree climbing, scientific research, and report writing while also building resilience, discipline, and critical thinking. I’m sincerely grateful to my supervisor @Dr. Bismark Ofosu-Bamfo , colleagues, and everyone who supported me throughout this journey.

I look forward to new opportunities where I can apply my knowledge and contribute to environmental research, conservation, and sustainable development.

📍Jonkershoek was another example of a green african paradise, easily accessible from Cape Town. There are multiple trails that you can choose from + numerous mountain bike trails.

One challenge: The park gate and main parking lot is 5km from all starting points of all the trails. There is a small parking capacity inside the park as well - but only 15-20 cars are let inside inside every early morning to reach the actual beginning of trails. If you don’t want to do 5k extra each way, wakey wakey and make sure to arrive at 6am 🙌🏼
