Tiësto – Magik Journey (Album Version) Starting the week with arguably one of the best opening tracks to a trance album ever made. Magik Journey opens In My Memory, and while it was never one of Tiësto’s mega hits, for me it has everything that made him so good around this period. That huge beat, the almost operatic atmosphere, layers of synths and strings, and then that massive build. It was co-written with Geert Huinink, whose classical influence is all over it. This one is also a request. A new follower, @dario.wax, saw my last In My Memory post and suggested I dig this one out, so more than happy to return the favour. I’ve featured a few tracks from this album now and it just reminds me how ridiculous it was. Flight 643, Lethal Industry, Suburban Train… and this sitting right at the front setting the whole thing up. Not the Tiësto track everyone immediately names, but an absolutely brilliant piece of trance. What a way to open an album. And a Monday.
