Mantis Radio has the best music selection, period. It brings me back to the days of legendary radio stations like K-ROQ 92.3, when tuning in actually felt like an experience. There’s always an eccentric, unpredictable, and downright epic selection of music—and a seriously talented DJ who was blessed with a hypnotic voice that somehow ties it all together. This is what radio is supposed to sound like. 📻🔥

The Long Video for The Long Road - filmed on the lockdown roads of West Kerry on hospital trips to Tralee mostly after my daughter was born. The bassline was recorded 1 week before she was born , @rob_mac_303 got busy with the fx and electric guitar. Still brings me right back to that strange but , for me, incredibly beautiful time. It was @cianociobhain s airplay and enthusiastic support that encouraged us to do the album INTERDIMENSIONAL DRIFT. Originally released 21-12-20 on Bandcamp - now on general release for its 5th birthday. We've since released the BRUTAL CIVILISATION PARTS1-3 series with @darkfloorsound - where things got noisier, more techno , and almost metal. Theres a whole lot more psych /groove rock and rhythm to be released. Hopefully in 2026. Its a great project to be a bit weird, not be contrained, and to let our post punk /alt rock/ shoegaze and psychedelic influences fly free. #postrock #ambientrock #alternativerock #westkerry

With a penchant for the darker, twisted side of techno, electro, D&B and other grimace-inducing bass heavy noise, Mx has been at the cutting edge of techno for years. Culminating in the emergence of record label Darkfloor Sound – pushing the work of Ontal, Interjector, Savagen, Savier, and Herd. Expanding and bridging the sounds they champion on Mantis Radio. Their DJ sets present a varied selection – taking in sharp breaks, industrial noise, rich relentless bass weight, downbeat drone and an uncompromising techno backbone you can rely on. Over the years they’ve shared the stage alongside Mark Broom, Ben Pest, Svreca, Ancient Methods, Perc, Kamikaze Space Programme, Shelley Parker, Inigo Kennedy, Voidloss, P-Hocto, Coefficient, Jerome Hill, C Mantle, and many more.

Episode 77 of my weekly radio show Mornings With has hit the archives. Listen back on Patreon, SoundCloud, and if you so wish, watch it back on YouTube. From the ambient rolls of 1993 Moby, through Cuba, to Kosmische Musik, and the dub techno of Basic Channel. We drift deep into the the African drums of Olatunji. The bleeps of Plaid. And the infinite guitar of 4AD's Michael Brook. Hear music from Angelique Kidjo. Penguin Café. And early black midi. Before a double dose of dub from King Tubby and Lee Perry. You've the supreme beauty of My Bloody Valentine, and a track from their perfect record Loveless. Norway's Röyksopp. Mid 70s funky soul from Willie Hutch. A banging solo track from Sneaker Pimps' Kelli Ali. More bleeps, this time from Brummie outfit Plone. Talvin Singh's tabla meets dnb. Riffs-a-go-go with a double dose of heavy from Tad, and Deftones. Before ending up in a 4hero remix of Nuyorican Soul. There's a lot to love this week. Mx.
