Sometimes the most powerful thing you can teach someone isn't a dance step. It's the confidence to take one. ❤️

This weekend, I had the pleasure of leading a youth line dance workshop at the SER Youth Summit, in partnership with @darknessrisingproject.

It was my first time leading a session exclusively for youth, and WOW, did they leave an impression!

Our workshop, Move It Through: Joy, Rhythm & Release, explored how movement can support mental health, confidence, and self-expression.

And let me tell you, we had a TIME! 😂💃🏾

At first, there were nervous smiles and hesitant steps. But soon, the laughter got louder, the movements got bigger, and everyone started adding their own flair.

That was the point.

Movement doesn't have to look the same for everyone to be meaningful. It's about releasing perfection, taking up space, and celebrating what your body can do.

By the end, they were cheering each other on, embracing their individuality, and leaving proud of themselves. I was even prouder.

I'm grateful to Darkness RISING Project for creating culturally relevant, community-rooted mental health spaces, and to everyone who helped bring the SER Youth Summit to life.

This experience reinforced what I believe wholeheartedly: Joy is wellness, movement is a powerful outlet, and confidence can start with an eight-count.

Here's to bringing more movement, music, and confidence-building into spaces that serve our youth.

Let's keep moving! ❤️

Si quieres bailar con alguien que comprenda tu dolor,
que conozca al demonio que te susurra bajo el colchón,
puedes llamarme cuando quieras, conozco bien su voz;
fui su paciente cero, su primera perdición.

——

If you want to dance with someone who understands your pain,
who knows the demon whispering beneath your mattress,
you can call me whenever you want;
I know his voice by heart.

I was his patient zero,
his first undoing.

September was a time to reset, a period to plan, and now we’re MOVING in October 🧡🎃✨

Every Thursday at 6:30pm you can catch my weekly yoga class @sokolnewyork - trained in Anusara yoga, every week I will lead you through a chakra focused Hatha yoga flow! Register for the semester or drop in one week!

This Sunday, October 11th, I’ll be teaching a 6:30pm community yoga class @worldyogacenter - the studio I did my Anusara yoga training under :) This studio means a lot to me so I’m excited to bring this offering periodically each month! Class is FREE but you need to register in advance

Wednesday October 21st we’re speeding up the pace with a Soca dance fitness class, hosted by @darknessrisingproject ! This is a fundraiser class followed by a social after to mingle with others & learn more about the services and support Darkness RISING provides 💃🏾♥️

End of the month on Friday October 30th in honor of spooky SZN, Peony (@callmebossladiip ) and I will be hosting a Twerk N’ Whine pop up class hosted with @educatedwaistlines . We will do a warmup, run through drills, and teach a new sultry choreo full of fun twerk and waist whining techniques you can take to the club.

But here’s the twist of this event… we’re bringing the club to YOU! After class, there will be a DJ, drinks, and time to connect with other like minded dancers @phreshnyc . If you’re bringing a costume you’ll have time to change for Educated Waistlines Halloween fete later that night!!

Links for all these fun activities are in my Linktree in the bio- feel free to message or comment below with any questions!

I’ve missed my girlies can’t wait to see you all sometime this month ☺️

SUMMER ’26. 🙌🏽

Different cities. Different events. Different faces. One mission.

This summer, Trap Conscious had the opportunity to pop up, connect with people, have real conversations, and continue spreading a message that goes far beyond the clothes on the rack.

To everybody who popped out, stopped by our table, bought something, shared our content, told somebody about us, or simply took the time to hear what Trap Conscious stands for, THANK YOU 🙏🏽

Summer may be over, but the work doesn’t stop here. Because mental health isn’t something we acknowledge for a month or a season.

Mental health is an EVERYDAY task.

Every day, we have an opportunity to heal.
Every day, we have an opportunity to grow.
Every day, we have an opportunity to become more of who God called us to be.

This was more than a pop-up season.

We planted seeds. 🌱

Now we keep cultivating.

Be fruitful wherever you’re planted.

TRAP CONSCIOUS

I stopped measuring my victories against someone else’s.

How can I accurately measure success when everyone’s journey, timeline, and starting point is different?

It took me a while to realize I was carrying expectations that others had placed on me—or what I perceived I was supposed to accomplish by a certain time.

Once I became the author of my own story, a weight was lifted.

I didn’t get here alone. Therapy, to some, has gotten a bad reputation, but for me, it has been part of the work. And yes, therapy works—but you have to be willing to do the work, too.

I’m no longer measuring my life by someone else’s ruler. I’m honoring my journey, my growth, and the victories that are uniquely mine.

Connect with @darknessrisingproject to help you find a therapist that fits your needs.

What a great way to reset my mind and body for the week ahead. Thanks @darknessrisingproject for putting together this event. Yoga with @theyardieyogi was amazing 🙌🏾🙏🏾

Side note. We were done at 11:11. ✨️

Life Beyond the Breaking Points: Healing, New Beginnings, and Growth, is rooted in the belief that our darkest moments do not define our future.

That’s why I’m proud to highlight Darkness RISING, an organization working to break the stigma surrounding mental health and connect communities with safe, equitable resources.

Because sometimes the greatest crown we can wear is knowing we survived, healed, grew, and chose to rise.

To learn more about Darkness Rising Project, follow and support them at www.darknessrisingproject.org and definitely follow their pages for more events.

When most people hear “yoga,” they think stretching, poses, a nice stretch before brunch. But this Sunday, it’s something more.

Open Heart & Hips is a slow flow — where we release what’s stored in the hips and open space in the heart. Because the body remembers what the mind tries to move past. Tension doesn’t just disappear. It settles. In the shoulders. The hips. The breath we’ve learned to hold instead of release.

This class is also a way of showing up for something bigger than the mat.

We’re moving alongside the Darkness RISING Project — a nonprofit doing the work of erasing the stigma around mental health in Black and marginalized communities. Their belief is simple, and it’s one I share:

🌱Healing doesn’t have to happen in isolation, and it doesn’t have to look clinical to be real. Sometimes healing looks like community. Sometimes it looks like joy. Sometimes it looks like a circle of people, outside, breathing together on a Sunday morning.

That’s the space we’re building.

Beginner or seasoned yogi — it doesn’t matter. Come as you are.
No performance, no perfection required. Just a willingness to show up, soften, and be held by the practice and the people around you.

This is where softness and strength meet. This is where rest becomes resistance. This is where we remember: we were never meant to carry it all alone.

🌸 My invitation for you: come move, come breathe, come be in community — for yourself, and for the healing that reaches further than this one hour.

💔 Trigger Warning / Suicidal Ideation //

I know what it feels like to believe that the pain will never end. I know what it feels like to need help and not know where to turn.

But I also know this:

Sometimes staying alive starts with one decision. ONE conversation. ONE person who answers the phone One place that says, “You belong here.”

I started Darkness RISING to create a safe space for us. Our communities deserve access to mental health support that sees us, understands us, and reminds us that our lives are worth fighting for. We’ve been providing FREE therapy, 10 sessions per person for communities in need.

Today, on World Suicide Prevention Day, I’m telling you why I’m still here. This is why I keep doing this work.

This is why we need your help to keep going:

We lost 49% of our funding this year. If you’re able to support this work, please consider a donation.

Your gift helps Darkness RISING continue connecting the Black community & formerly incarcerated people of color with mental health resources, therapy, wellness programming, and spaces where people can be honest about what we’re carrying.

I’m still here.

And I want more of us to be.

🧡 Donate today & help us keep RISING.

WE LOVE A 90s HOUSE PARTY! WOOP WOOP! 🎉📸✌🏾

Last week, Darkness Rising through a 90s Mixer and it was the event of the summer! 🌞 We danced, ate, and enjoyed a panel focused on topics such as burnout and self care!

You’ve gotta come to the next event!! ALSO, if you wanna get involved! ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

Funding was gutted this year. Grants that used to fund work centering Black and brown communities dried up almost overnight. But not because the need disappeared.
So we’re adapting, not stopping.

Join the Hope RISES Team, our monthly giving circle. Pledge $40/month by September 15th.

Help us build the kind of funding that doesn’t depend on who’s in power.
