Proud that our film Darkness Matters has been selected in competition at CineGlobe Film Festival, taking place at CERN in Geneve from June 4th to 7th, 2026.

CERN with CineGlobe and Arts at CERN is one of the places I had aspired to be involved with. A place where arts meets science and science meets art, recognising them both as able to produce knowledge.

It is no coincidence that the conference of ESFA - European Science Film Association will take place on the 4th as an event that might bode well the whole festival!

Thanks Neal Hartman and the selection committee for believing in our project and christine reisen for believing in me as a representative for science and film, in my role as a producer and filmmaker.

And as always thankful to the precious dedicated crew of Darkness Matters:
Lars G Lindström
Roberto Bresin
Oliver Akermo
Sebastian Dahlgren
Irene Borgna
Federico Pellegrino at Sideralis
my son Elias Theodor Bani-Lindström

And all the funders, inkind investors and cultural patrons.

Repost from @darkskyoregon.

“The third episode, 'Light Trespass, is airing on @newschannel21 this month and will be featured across all our social channels. This project is made possible through the generous support of the Got Stars-Central Oregon initiative in collaboration with @visitcentraloregon Future Fund. Together, we strive to illuminate the importance of illuminate the importance of preserving our night skies and combating light pollution.

Light trespass occurs when unwanted artificial light invades a space, such as a bedroom window from a streetlamp, disrupting sleep and privacy. It's a form of pollution that affects both humans and wildlife. Imagine the glow that seeps into a darkened room, uninvited.

At DarkSky Oregon, Our mission is to preserve Oregon's magnificent dark skies and diminish light pollution for all life's health, safety, and well-being.

Original text:
“@darksky_intl 2026 gardening trend!

Light pollution isn't just a big-city issue anymore. Even in suburban gardens, a porch light left on overnight can disrupt bird migration and confuse the bats, amphibians, and nocturnal pollinators that depend on darkness to forage.

And it's not only wildlife - research shows artificial light can also throw off plant rhythms, shifting leaf budding and drop, and even altering flowering cycles.

The good news? A few simple swaps make a big difference! Link in bio to learn more and discover more gardening trends for 2026!

If you were a hedgehog which garden would you prefer!?“

LDN 1235 is a dark nebula about 650 light-years away in the constellation Cepheus. It spans roughly 15 light-years and is made up of dense interstellar dust that obscures background starlight. The faint blue glow in parts of the nebula comes from starlight reflected by dust grains.

Despite its nickname, the “Dark Shark,” this region has no active star formation-it’s primarily a cold molecular cloud illuminated by nearby stars.

I imaged this over 6 nights at @starfront_observatories where pristine dark skies make this kind of data collection possible.

✨Officially Proclaimed: Methow Dark Sky Week! ✨

We’re proud to share that the Methow Valley’s first-ever Dark Sky Week proclamation has been officially recognized and supported by the Towns of Twisp and Winthrop, their Chambers of Commerce, and a growing coalition of local businesses.

This shared commitment speaks volumes: Our dark skies are not just beautiful—they’re a vital part of our rural identity, ecosystem, and way of life. ✨

As artificial light brightens skies around the world, the Methow remains a rare haven of natural darkness. Let’s keep it that way for wildlife, for future generations, and for the simple joy of looking up.

Read the full proclamation, then step outside and celebrate with us during #MethowDarkSkyWeek, April 21–28!

Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS

The next time this comet will swing back our way is in 80,000 years, that’s if it survives its voyage. Anyway, capturing a 2nd comet in less than 5 years has been amazing. This wouldn’t have peaked my interest if I hadn’t picked up a camera back in 2018. I hope there will be more comets visible to the naked eye or with my camera (without a telescope) in the near future.
