The first-ever YUGO WAVE night last Saturday was absolute fire! 🔥

A massive collaboration between Berlin’s own KOROWA Team and the Dark Yugo Wave project all the way from Oakland/LA, this historic link-up finally brought the ultimate Yugo Wave party to the heart of Berlin 🙌🏻

A huge thank you to everyone who packed the venue and danced with us until the early hours. The energy was unmatched!

Massive shoutouts to DJ Zlaya of Dark Yugo Wave (straight from the LA) and Matko for spinning an incredible selection of Yugoslavian classics.

Hearing those iconic tunes echoing through Berlin felt incredible 💥

Special thanks to the legendary 8mm Bar crew and every single friend who showed up to support. Thanks everyone for the support.

Until next time! 🖤🦇

TONIGHT at @thesixpdx below @themidnightpdx is Portland’s debut of @darkyugowave featuring DJ Zlaya (LA) @zlayadj and DJ Kaos Kaos (Oakland) @dzimboe ⚡️

Very excited that @tobias_berblinger and myself are DJing the opening set, we have been lowkey amassing a collection of these records and wanting to do a Yugowave night for awhile so it’s an honor to be added to the bill.

If you haven’t heard any Yugowave, there’s a treasure trove of dark new wave, post-punk, punk, and goth gems from 80s former Yugoslavia that you need to hear and dance to. This is a totally unique dance night that’s never happened in Portland before, don’t sleep 🫨

Doors at 8:30, we start at 9pm

See you on the dance floor 🥀

A ‘throwback photo series’ season continues. A pic taken in the fall of ‘94. It was inspired by a record cover (then just obtained the banshees’ ‘Happy House’ 7”).
In my #TBT case it’s mostly these shots taken in the early 90’s. They were filled with sorrow of the era, and the fact that my closest friends and i were born just 10 years too late. Little did we know how much energy, creativity, and talent we generated in the Belgrade Ghetto (of the 90’s) trying to re-live an era that we completely missed. We thought that all of it was in a complete vain, but the traces and records the most of us left behind are proving us wrong.
And yes, DarkYugoWave Nr.4 is tomorrow at @mothershipbar in San Francisco :) @darkyugowave
