Lost in the Right Direction: From Travel Memories
They say that in Morocco, getting lost is the only way to truly find what you’re looking for. 🇲🇦
We drove through the dark to find a beautiful coastal village and the @darnaimaimsouane in Imsouane, a great place to stay. That night, a rhythm of the desert found me through a local musician named Aziz, who played beautifully on the Moroccan instrument guembri, characteristic of traditional Gnawa music. We didn’t need a shared language to speak to one another; we had the strings. We sat till late, jamming. I always take my little soprano ukulele whenever I travel and a little rattle, as you never know where the next jam will happen…
Travel isn’t just about the places you go; it’s about the people who let you into their world for a song. It was one of those raw, unplanned moments that remind you why we travel in the first place: to connect, to learn, and to witness the beauty of a soul expressed through sound.
Great encounters with musicians and artists always remind me that no matter how far I roam, music is the universal heartbeat that connects us all to something greater.
